I know my M3 isn't the fastest car in the world, and there are lots of worked and tuned cars that will beat me.....BUT,as a complete package,I think there is VERY little that can match it. And the cool thing is,yes, the buying price is high, but you get a lot of car for your money without having to do much,if anything at all.
So what it costs someone to buy an S3,tune it and maintain it,he may as well have bought an M3 to start with.

And at least you will be able to control the car on high speeds with one hand on the wheel, like to see a shoe box sized car that's tuned do that.

Lol,ain't that the truth..... The S3 isn't Quattro is it? So when it's tuned, there must be some hectic torque steer on that thing.

S3 is Quattro.

My Cupra is stable at speeds in excess of 250 km/h.

Aaah,ok. So no torque steer then. That's impressive, stability over those speeds, for any car actually.

I wonder if this guy says the same about an RS4 - his RS3 must trash them also - I hope he mentions that on the forum.

On the Audi forum, the RS4 gets chomped by everything and anything, most of the time they are comparing S4s, S3s, RS3s and 2.0T. Although the Audi guys respect the RS4, they don't see it as a threat in most instances, which I think is very unfair on what is a very good car. There is a thread that was going about this same guy in his S3 and a loud mouth in an RS4 having a go against each other, and the S3 did give him a bit of a rough going over. I've read threads against the E46 M3, but this is one of the few about the E9x M3.

M Cars lose so much power at this elevation. Drove my two M cars at sea level and having had to come back is an anti-climax of note! This same dice at sea level would have beeen very different! :fencelook:

Agreed about the loss of power. Although these M's are still blisteringly quick at altitude. The loss of power on my RS4 was huge compared to the M, but you have to take into account the weight of the Quattro system and the issues regarding carbon buildup on the valves in those FSi motors, and it adds up. A stock RS4, on the wheels in good health is supposed to be doing around 190kw... on a motor that at the flywheel is doing somewhere around 309kw.

I raced a friend of mine RS4 with chip and exhaust against my stock e92 M3... That's just say he doesn't want to be my friend anymore:roflol:

I got a similar response when I nailed my mate in his RS4, he was just a bit more gracious in defeat than I expected. I think the M3 is highly under estimated, certainly from what I have experienced driving mine the last couple of weeks, but it is still the benchmark in that segment.

Yup also had a run against a RS4 at ODI, from standstill it outlaunch me badly, but towards the end of 1/4 I was almost neck to neck...

On that run i think he did 14.4 and I did 14.1:rollsmile:

Quattro does great things for launching, that I will say,but it's not as much fun as getting a 3rd gear wheel spin is it.... :joy:

RS4 has little or no chance against a V8 ///M.

When I had mine,I never got the opportunity against a V8 M, even an E46 M. I was pretty much on par with an ISF, but I do realise now that I wouldn't have stood a chance against a V8 M3 in my Audi. That's why I am not so convinced about the initial post and this S3 dishing it out to the M3, other than it being a VERY short distance.

Don't worry bud, I'm sure my race tale got on there too... Probably went something like this...

'So I'm cruising and this M3 just came up next to me and revving the sh!t out of the car, and asking me if I wanna race? So I putted 5 car length from the get go and never saw him again':roflol:

That's brilliant! LMAO!!

So here is a post from the guy that DID get chomped in his RS4 by the same S3 as in my original post.

So on Monday afternoon, around 5-ish, I was driving down Republic Rd from Cresta, when I stopped at the robots on cnr Republic Rd and Judges Ave, near the Engen Garage, headed towards Malibongwe Dr, when a black SEAT Cupra, with Revo and some other decals pulls up behind me, on the inner lane.

Being the 2nd car from the front, meant that there was an obstruction - in the form of a Hyundai Gets - in front of me... LOL!

Anyhow...

When the robots opened, I was lucky enough to have the Gets scurry on out of the way, opening enough of a gap to allow me to get onto the outer lane . Naturally, the guy in the SEAT Cupra did the same, and then came up besides me, as we approached the set of robots next to the Absa building. This also allowed us to stand abreast - with no cars in front of us.

I then proceeded to roll down my window and he did the same. At that point, we agreed that when the robot turned green, IT'S ON! Upon agreement of a street duel, I proceeded to turning the traction and stability controls off, engaged sport mode and revved to 8000rpm, and waited for the green light.

When the robot turned green, I got the ideal launch - even got some tire squeal .

I pulled up ahead about a car-length, and when I got to 2nd gear, the gap grew slightly. I got to 140km/h before i had to hit the breaks (traffic, although moderate).

We proceeded on, with him behind me, until we were about to reach the Rabbie St intersection - when he pulled up beside me on the outer lane, he was turning left.
In that little moment, after we'd rolled down our windows, I told him I was surprised that I'd spanked him. That's when he told me that he'd gotten massive wheel-spin as he was pulling off the line. I asked if he was catching up and he said no.

This then prompted me to ask him if his Cupra was in fact modded-up, and he replied yes . He even told me that he was getting 180wkw .

I am just #shockedForDays!! But I'm glad I kicked Cupra ass... LOL! .

I guess that's a #punchToTheGut to a modded-up 2.0L turbo from me... FINALLY! #yay .
