Hi
even tough I am new to this forum, I am not new to BMW's

I've recently purchased another e12 to add to my collection ( of e12's)
Evidently this maybe a SA car
It has no obvious VIN plates ( appears to have been removed when car respayed! and not replaced)

it has JC6892 stamps on right front shock tower

The engine has 3380714 stamped on it.

According to Ulli 3380714 is 1974 for a South African 520/4. Even though its a 6 cylinder 2.8 M30 motor

Anyone have an clues on how to find correct VIN number.

Body in pics cant be a 74 as the petrol cap would have been at the back next to numberplate. So this might have been a 520 which had an engine transplant. I would never buy a car without its vin plate unless you going to track it. Cops stop you with that car and check it, its going to be impounded, especially if the engine numbers don't match chassis and you have no paperwork showing a engine transplant on the reg papers.Cops aren't interested in stories, only proof.

My buddies car has been stolen and recovered 3 times and has 3 different APP numbers, everytime he gets stopped its a circus and he carries all the papers in the car because of this.
