Hi Guys

Thought you would like this one. I drove the New F30 Bmw 328i today.
180kw (2L turbo) just sad we lost the legendary 6-cyl sound. But WOW its good. avg of 6.3l/100km.

Very good video. Did you let the car shift itself at redline?

Love the free reving nature of this 2L. Awesome stuff. :joy:

3 different sport settings, something to do with suspension and gear changes. in first gear it changes before 7000rpm, but from 2nd on it goes all the way. The turbo is awesome, 180kw is massive with 8 gears, the car only had 220km on it, max output only 160kw until engine is run in.. i guess, the salesman also said only 160kw for now. so its gonna get faster..

That thing revs like crazy

+1!

I was very impressed with the overall performance! As you say, loves to rev, and responds quite quickly - virtually no turbo-lag that I could feel!!! :inlove:

Engine note was also a bit better than I was expecting, and there was at least a nice amount of turbo "woosh" and other noises!

sorry to say. but i am old school want 2.5l 6cyl or 3.0l 6cyl. The guys at Bmw said if it wasn't for emission restrictions it would have been big engines, like the new 320d has NO EMISSION tax, emissions makes a big impact on the purchase price..

The 328i is really only a 2.0 litre!? No wonder my 135i murdered it. Why call it a 328i then? So what is the 335i then?

328i = 2.0l twin turbo. 335i = 3.0l twin turbo. 135i = 3.0l twin turbo.

So ya as basic math would show you 3 > 2.

so why are you suprised your 135 is faster than a 328i?

Old 328i. e46 and e36 = 2.8l straight six

You will be amazed how many people think that their X35i's are 3.5l or that their 1 Series is front wheel drive. The model numbers have always been more model designation related rather than actual engine size - the whole idea is to standardise the engines across the various model ranges. So reliability and repairs should be easier compared to having many different engine types.

think robink meant he was surprised until he found out it was a 2 ltr turbo. he then said "no wonder" he murdered it.

that been said bigger engine capacity and higher number of turbos doesnt always guarantee that your car will be faster.

i saw the 328i on RPM last night. old spike ballantine didnt give it a great review.

That 328i is a great drive and chews through the rev range with that 8 speed box, very quick considering it is only sitting at 160kw due to pre-run in procedure.

After driving the car, took my 330i on the same route, power delivery is so different on the turbo cars (not a bad thing). With a bit of a tune, these cars will easily keep up with the x35i cars.

That 328i is awesome , awesome video and I'll have it before any of the previous ones . You guys are just silly saying you'd rather have a straight 6 . My opinion don't hate

The way power is delivered in a small turbo engine, and big NA engine is so different. You just can't compare them, very much personal preference. Absolutely nothing wrong with picking the straight 6 over one of the newer engines.

The new cars with the 8 speed box just rev so quickly, I had to look down a few times to see where I was in the rev range. The box is blisteringly quick. - need to try a manual though.

If I had to upgrade, I would miss the feel of the E46. The steering on the new car is so light, you don't get as much feedback. The cars are very comfortable, speed and breaking is deceptive. I enjoyed every minute in them though.

I'm quite happy with what BMW has done with the new generation cars. It does well for the brand name I feel, and as we all have personal taste I do agree with the 6cyl boys on this one. I have a good sound system on my pc and it just feels a little empty. The 6 will always have a special place in all our hearts :inlove: at least they will still be around for quite some time if we ever feel the need to revisit that pleasure

If BMW stayed in the past, they'd end up like the VW Golf 1 from the ark.

If you can't stay ahead of the pack, you'd be out of business VERY quickly. People should learn to embrace change. The 3.0L twin turbo motor didn't win all the awards that it did because it was old school.
