??? Vibrations whilst driving

Ok checked now on the drive home ,I gave it the beans and some more it seemed to get less the dronning dissapered completely and only a slight vibration.but only in 1ST and 2ND. While do a few kph on the high where I could reach 4000rpm in top gear its seemd fine also I depressed the clutch and all was well gave it a few revs up to 5000-6000 and nothing either. Getting off the highway I gave it on the backroads and seemed ok , only a small vibration no dronning so it can't be the motor cause it only gives a vibration while driving , so iam guessing prop shaft or that rubber thing between the prop and diff.......... Any other ideas ?

its a good idea to check all your rubbers because they the most lightly cause the diff bushes could be the cause... if it was the Guibo it would most lightly be more speed related and you should hear a loud clank when you pull off...

been discussing my flywheel problem with Phillip from Luk SA (very helpful guy) and my problem is definitely the flywheel:

my flywheel is too short so the pilot bearing can become slightly lose from the clutch action so it sometimes does not sit right... the e90 flywheel has the bearing built into the flywheel and has the offset i need so this should end my problem :)

this is what the vibration did to my new rear diff mount in 5 months :dropjaw:

lookey what i got :)

it a an e90 DMF its about 1kg lighter than the e46 one have now but more importantly its the correct thickness so should stop my vibration :)
only question is do i try fit this myself...

btw if anyone has an e46 330i six speed this is a direct fit :) so if you need a new flywheel this is way better... it also has a few design changes that make it better than the e46 six speed flywheel...

R 3365, but i just realized i got the wrong part :( some how i have the wrong part number the e46 has 8 bolts not 6 like this one seems the e90 comes with 6 and 8 bolt hole patterns :(

i will speak to Luk today and see where things went wrong then get the right part number so i can get the right one

the guy from Luk looked at all the drawings for the e90 flywheel and all have 6 holes
i have a mech here that claims he fitted an e90 fly to an e46... i just dont get it...

anyway the vibration is gone now :) the holes in the front diff bushes were very oval the rubber was fine up until recently...

when i got the new bushes i could see how oval the holes were... the diff was wobbling sideways under deceleration making the vibration...

Im not sure if i fixed the symptom or the cause, but im glad is gone :) ill run the car and see if the noise comes back... if it does ill start looking again

sometimes i think i hear the noise very faintly but i think i may be imagining it (something like phantom limb syndrome) my GF says she can hear it...

Don't worry BMW hypochondria is pretty normal among fanatics :)

what pisses me off is i almost changed the flywheel for nothing... turns out they all the same height

the mech here that told me he did the same conversion must be on some powerful crack...

Good day moranor
glad to hear that you sorted your bmw, just got one question, did a trip to kempton this weekend with my 320d e46, it feels as if my ride is very bounchy at 120km/h what can be the cause? at lower speed no bounchy feel. Any help would be appreciated.

this could be lots of things...
what year/mileage is your car?
can you feel if its coming from the front or the back?
does it happen under acceleration, deceleration or when cursing?
could also be the retarded concrete highways we have in some places...

most common thing to go are front lower control arm bushes... but it could be anything from suspension to tires...
