Good Morning Guys and Gals...seems my vanos started rattling yesterday...Saw online that the guys in UK have theirs repaired and serviced with vanos kits....Anyone know of any vanos specialists in Cape Town?

Beisansystems.com = R450 for the Seals (takes about a month to get here and that price includes delivery from the USA).

Bruce's Mechanical = about R1300 Labour

Whole job should cost less than R2000. If you have the rattle already, a repair kit along with seals may be needed, will cost a touch more, but not much more.

Thats very cheap for the unit, if its complete.

nope, you are wrong on this one. The 6 cylinder engines have vanos, not the 4s

You can DIY this as the beisan instructions are very detailed showing you exactly how to do it.
If you do it wrong you will cry - there are some reverse threaded bolts that can easily break and then you have a big problem.
Take it to someone that has done it before, rather, if you are not sure.
R1300 is really a good price for the work involved and you can expect some kind of workmanship guarentee.

It's well worth doing this fix.

6 cylinders from M50 or so have single or dual vanos to bring torque peak lower down in rev range , but still sound nice chasing rev limiter !! IMHO try get forum member to help you if you can swing a spanner .
