Just a quick question, you said you bought the car two weeks ago. How did it pass the quality check with an aftermarket exhaust ? Tell the dealer you bought it from to have it sorted out. Most car dealers are bound to give 30 days or 1000 km's warranty. Follow it up.

+1!

The car failed the quality check because of the exhaust, this was a private sale

Hi Malcolm, were you able to transfer the Motorplan across to your name if your car failed the 21pt QC?

No,the car needs to pass the quality check before the MP can be transferred onto my name.

Correct, and BMW wont work in it if its the MP is not in your name. Trust me.

Its going to cost you money but mabe you can buy a set of catted aftermarket dp, that should get rid of the cat codes, and then just take a chance with the dealer, or you can buy a dp fix from renzport, that will get rid of the code... Then talk to someone at you dealer and find someone that can help you out...

Catless operation will not cause white smoke at standstill. You need to get stock downpipes & give it to BMW to sort out.

Update : i managed to get a set of DP's, put the stock exhaust back on and the car is not smoking any longer.
Do you guys think i need to put the min cats back on? what could be causing the smoke on the aftermarket exhaust?

My post #18 is still relevant.

1. Now that you have the DPs on take the car for its inspection to get the MP transferred.

2. I still dont know what you talking about "mini cats"...I know what they are but they mostly crap....we need to know...no not know...SEE your exhaust and pix of these mini cats.

3. We can only really help you if post some pix of the entire exhaust...its so easy to take a pic with your phone.

3. You also not mentioning the secondary cats. Pix please.

My biggest suprise here is that BMW will sort it out after your put the stock exhaust on......... Normally they just tell you that if its been changed or modified your warranty/motorplan expires.. !!!!

I like your dealer!
