Nomercy...That really sucks.

My new pump has been holding out well since Aug 2010. It seems the more mods on the car the better it performs...the stock cars are the worse off...:=):

I agree. Moral of the story, mod your car with a JB4. Mine is also 100s. 2 years left on MP and still going strong.

My car is modded, FBO that's my problem, everytime this happens I have to organise to take it in. My exhaust is a custom 76mm pipe from dp to my AC Schintzer box so it sounds "wild" compared to stock, so taking it in is a mission...
My car was fine until the recall and that's what I told bmw, now is f#cked, makes me mal!!!!

The same happens with my car. The recalled fuel pump seems to be flowing less as we had to redo the tuning from scratch.

So what do you guys think it is, they changed the pump but kept some part of the mechanics and that just keeps failing?

Anyway its frustrating, I also think it flows less, since I did the recall my fuel consumption dropped by 3lt per 100km, so they did change something, but it doesn't seem to be working...

So Far 80000km on my 335 N54 and no major issues. It was recalled by BMW a few months ago. They replaced injectors, HP fuel pump, tested boost on Turbos. So far not a single issue on my car and I love it!! Will look at trading in on the new F30 335 and hope its as fun to drive as the current 335.

With high performance comes expectations of failures and as long as you are under motorplan, why worry.

Its when you leave motorplan that you pocket is GONNA HURT BIG TIME if something fails.

Cheers and to all the a great Holiday season....

Hey guys,

Very informative post, great stuff.

I'm currently looking at a 2008 N54 135i and have the service history with me. For those that had the HPFP replaced, can you please advise what the line description was on the service history?

Thisis what has been done on my previous car.

Recall Campaign 10E-A02: N54 High-Pressure Fuel Pump

1. Item 0059091 Replace High Pressure Pump
2. Part 13 51 7 616 446XP AT-HIGH-PRES R4156.22

I see part 446 is the latest HPFP...I hear BMW is on N54 HPFP part number eight, at last count.

"Recall: Checking injectors in fuel injection system and removing, scanning and installing or replacing 3 injectors as required with the N54 engine produced from 04/02/2007 through 10/31/2008"

1. Part 13 53 7 585 261 Injector X3
2. Part 13 53 7 584 315 Gasket Ring
3. Part 13 53 7 564 751 Decoupling E

The cost was to BMW SA Warranty at R5082.40

Thanks dlk001. Car didn't have the hpfp replaced, its relatively low mileage so its expected.

My 2007 E92 had HPFP replaced twice and it has been running smooth since the second one.

My replacement 2010 E93 hasn't had any HPFP issues and running strong (touch wood)...

Good luck with the car, x35 are awesome.:praise:
