I know they sometimes put these tracker devices to monitor it when its not in their possession.

I would also think it is a tracking unit. Probably the dealership forgot to remove it when they sold the car.
Doesn't look like it has a constant power source, Would a tracking unit plug in a USB?It is possible its part of 2 pieces where the parent unit is powered and this child unit plugs in..possibly...it was just thrown in the boot compartment though.
I have seen similar looking devices used by some dealers. They chuck it in the boot or somewhere else in the car when a car is loaned out for a test drive etc. They then charge it on a docking station at their site when need be. I think it can last a few days without charge.
I know when I once bought a car, the dealer had to send his driver out to fetch the unit as they forgot to remove it when I took delivery. That is how I seen the device in my car, looked similar, and was also left in the boot.
Definitely a mobile tracking device. Forgotten in the car by the dealership. We were required to carry these when I used to work at a dealership. Company policy.
Yep definitely a Tracker, I split the unit.

I wonder if BMW wants it back 5 years later :smilebounce:
