Unhappy With BMW Dealership Antics

Bought a used 2009 BMW 325i M sport pack. Excellent ride and I love it to bits but am not happy with a couple of things and maybe some of you guys could advice what to do:

1. The car has the BMW idrive system but the satellite navigation dvd is missing. I spent days reminding the salesman to make it available and he said absolutely nothing and tried hard to avoid the subject. I subsequently found out that the latest BMW navigation dvd costs R2700. I cant splash that much for a dvd when these guys sold me a car with a satellite navigation system that was supposed to be working.
2. The rear wheels of the car were worn out and had to be replaced before the car could be delivered to me. The size of the worn out rear tyres on this vehicle was 255/40 R17 (the size of the front tyres is 225/45 R17). I realised after taking delivery of the vehicle that the dealership replaced the original tyre with a narrower size tyre (225/40 R17 instead of the manufacturer specified size 255/40 R17. I was annoyed with this and I wrote a very nasty email to the salesguy about this and he has not responded.
3. I noticed also that the Idrive system in my car does not seem to have a number of functions or in some cases certain functions seem not to be working - for instance there is no bluetooth function; the tyre monitor function appears not to be working. Anyone out there with a pre-2010 3 Series BMW with the Idrive system (prior to the latest Idrive system), do you have these features (bluetooth, tyre monitoring function)? I suspect that my system might be in need of a software upgrading. Would it be possible for someone to do a software upgrade for me, and where or who or where would I go for the upgrade?

Thanks guys.

This is way unacceptable!
If the car was purchased very recently, don't delay action.
If not, they should still sort the issues out

Or even the sales manager.
This not on. :nono:

Oh, I forgot to mention also that I was not given the spare key, despite the fact the prior to signing the finance agreement, I asked about all these things and I also have an email where i listed all the things that i wanted sorted out before i signed, and I was told that everything was in place and that the car was just waiting for me but when i turned up to fetch it, the sparekey was not available (he says he has called the previous owner to provide the spare key:argh:!!!! there is also the right front jacking rubber block that's missing and i was told that it would be replaced before i took delivery of the vehicle. In fact when i took delivery of the vehicle, the salesguy said it had been replaced, but after i reached under the car with my bare hand and found that it was still missing, I confronted him and he blamed his workshop for failing to do it. I am so angry.

If you come right with all of those then count yourself lucky.. I went to the head office with my complaint and never heard anything about any results of their actions, just a few sob letters back to me which didn't help the fact that they couldn't fix a brake squeak twice and raced the car as I have a tracker.

I have a simple question for you.

Given the obvious problems as encountered prior to taking delivery WHY did you collect the car and sign the release note?
The fact that you have signed the contract with the finance company is meaningless to the dealer as they rely on the release note to collect their money.

It is simple to rectify the problems prrovided you take the car to the dealer and advise them of the work that requires to be done and at the same time advise the finance company that you shall only collect the car once all previously recorded issues have been attended to.

Equally advise them that for the period the car is with the dealer you will not be liable for interest on the money.....

Simple answer: I was stupid to take delivery of the vehicle, that's all! I called him so many times a few days prior to taking delivery of the vehicle, and i wrote about two or three emails to him to remind him to fix all these things and I have an email from him saying all these things had been sorted out and that the car was just waiting for me to come and collect (my problem, now i realise, is that I trusted a second hand car salesman!! That makes me an idiot). Perhaps i was too keen to get the car (My first ever BMW), and I overlooked the most basic of all the rules in the book - not to trust second hand car salemen!

3 letters for you.... CPA

The dealer is obligated to sort this out or cancel the deal at their cost, provided that you have documented proof of all the promises,

If the salesman is not giving you joy in terms of sorting this out (clearly seems to be the case), take it up with the dealer principle! Try and keep calm in all of this, getting too assertive is often not the most practical approach and just gets one's blood pressure up for nothing!

They need to sort out the iDrive system so that it functions 100% as intended! The rear tyres have to be replaced with the correct 255/40R17 size, also take note of the speed rating - not sure if the 325i has V or W speed rating, so check the manual and also the front tyres as well.

Hope you get all of these niggles sorted out!

I agree totally. I'll try and keep cool and hopefully things will go my way. I appreciate the advice, thanks.

Hey bud. I have sent you a PM.

thanks, i responded few minutes ago.

Hi guys, I went to the dealership this morning (considerably calmed down!) and met the Sales Manager - he promised to sort all these problems out - they asked me to book the car in for next week to fit in the correct size tyres, relook at the iDrive system, etc. they also promised to get a new navigation DVD for me - in fact they ordered it while i was there. So Im keeping my fingers crossed.

I like the car - it feels good and sounds glorious. Pity that some features of the iDrive system are not working properly. They sound like there's not much they could do about the bluetooth function (which i really need as i make and receive lots of calls when Im driving). The dealership says the model of the iDrive system currently in the car was not specc'd for bluetooth, and that if wanted one, I would have to go get one of the aftermarket products like Parrot or something.

Anyway thanks for all the advice and tips. I'll let you know what happens later.

Cheers.

Hi there bud

Sorry about all the hassles, make sure you put pressure on DP and Sales manager, the spare key missing is a security issue as some one else has a key to the car you are driving. In fact I'd return the car and collect it when they have received the spare key. I'd never take that chance, so they can loan you another vehicle until all the other issues are sorted out, as well.

Hope this helps..............

Sorry about your hassles.

Have a look here for Bluetooth for your car http://www.mobridge.us/ (If I am not mistaken Rivonia Car Sound supply's and fits).
Sorry I am not to familiar with the Beemers, perhaps you can identify which one may work on your car.

Best of Luck!
