Agreed - in terms of noobie questions on S54 engined Z4's you'd do well to read the advice I got from everyone here...

Did read through the thread and did find it helpful, thank you.
It seems my rattle is not the Vanos rattle, mine is only really heard when driving on very bumpy road or cobble flooring, I am quite certain it is the plastics under the bonnet as some of the clips are missing. Im going to buy some and see if that is the problem.
The first Z4m you test drove where you mentioned the clutch, mine feels exactly the same. I struggle to change gears smoothly. I hope the clutch isnt giving in. Does anyone know what a new clutch costs to replace??
Other than this I am very happy with the condition of my car. I had it tested for accidents and one fender has been resprayed but there was no further damage. Interior of the car is brand new apart from the ashtray not closing.
I see you really want a z4 M, just take your time id say. After selling my previous car I spent 3 weeks without a car and initially was looking for a 650i or an RS4, I only happened to find this z4 M by luck and ended up buying it because of the condition and what it is.
Good luck with your search. If i decide that i cannot get used to mine we can talk and I can continue my search for a 650i![]()
By the way, the black z4 M roadster on Autotrader for 235k at Executive Motors I went and had a look at. I did manage to bring the salesman down to 220k. I was in 2 minds between that one and the one I bought but went with mine because it is a 2008, has 3000km less on the clock and has the black interior. One at Executive did look VERY clean though and is maintained by Dave in Randburg who specializes in BWM and is very good apparently, doesnt touch other cars.

Before you start looking at changing the Clutch... remove the clutch delay valve and spend some time driving the car, you may just find that the clutch is fine and easier to operate with the delay valve removed... plus its one of those no cost mods...
