Out of interest, what did you do in the 1km on stock turbos?

228 was my best with fr&r software ,dp,forge dvs, aftermarket chargepipe, bmc drop in with mr5 mod and 20 inch wheels.I also had the devils own meth but it was always faulty so didn't use it.the car was steptronic.

After the turbo upgrade I changed to dual cones ,big Tom cooler.I never had good quarter mile times the car had a lot of lag best was a13.2

Thanks... So the car went backwards on the quarter with the mod turbos but ran better on the 1km?

Interesting, I remember reading on bimmerboost about something similar. Turned out that the was a clip of some sorts on the turbo that caused it to lose pressure. They replaced it with a proper stainless steel piece and Turbo's held boost fine, I think it's an option on the upgrades. Not sure if it's billet or thrust wheels, Not an expert. I'll see if I can find that post though.

Nope I think it had the same problem that m3 devil had in one of his threads, about a faulty solenoid.

Ja. My car also went slower on 1/4mile due to boost coming in late as a result of lag.

once I do clutch then I can check again.

The machining of the exhaust side wheels is essentially the most crucial part of the upgrade. Before buying the RB's which I got the first batch of and am very happy we tried to make a set locally. The gap on the exhaust side between the wall and wheel was bad as well as not uniform. The car it was tested on also spooled very late and got going at a later stage. I am sure by now the likes of Stallion have perfected this. The Chiplogic guys in PMB have a convertable with local units that outperforms my car with the RB's at the top end of the power curve. Durability is yet to be tested as the car does little mileage.

I still need to do a run on the 1km with the RB's but my prediction for street testing is that it will come in at around 256 so not a vast exit gain. This may also be due to my longer than stock gearing though. Would be cooler to see what other do but as far as I know I have only cracked the 250 mark on a very hot day and backed it up at another event.

+1.

Also a bud of mine about a year ago called stallion to enquire about modifying n54 stock turbos that time they said they could only machine and fit a larger comp wheel they couldn't do the exhaust wheel. This only yielded a gain of +-1kw IIRC and acutally lost a bit of torque.

Im not a very technical person so I honestly don't know, what I do know is that my car pulls like a bat out of hell. Speak to project Shift they will definitely be able to tell you exactly what they do...
