Sorry to detract slightly, what if you only wanted to fit an aftermarket DP (not catless though) would you still need a tune of sorts? Goal is only a sportier sound no desire for more hp. That combined with M Performance exhaust would be quite nice I think.
JB4ing a 320 just doesn't seem like a great idea, 328i is the best start point for modding.
A DP on a stock car would definitely make it sound a lot more sporty and you wouldn't need a tune if extra performance isn't the end goal. Why would you do a DP on your car that isn't catless?
Think I read somewhere that there's a raw fuel smell associated with with catless DPs, and you also then need a tune to cancel the errors as the sensors are no longer there. You can avoid all this by not going with an aftermarket catted DP, no? Apologies, my first blown car and this is all new to me

.
That is definitely all BS to be honest. The F30s don't need any cat foolers etc once the cat is removed and you definitely won't smell any fuel or fumes unless the exhaust is leaking ,whci obviously shouldn't be the case. Doing a DP is pointless if you keep the cat in. The point of a DP is the fact that exhaust gasses flow better and bring the exhaust gas temperatures down and allow the turbo to run cooler,as a result you should score a little bit of power(mostly only throttle response though) and the car would sound better. The only benefit of keeping the cat in place ,would be to keep emissions to a minimum and to conform to EU emission standard, which is pointless in SA anyway. A cat basically clogs up eventually and restricts the flow of exhaust gasses.
