personally I just fill up when my reserve lights goes on.
@Clownshoe: I am not to sure about that, my 330i over reads by 5km/h, but this is just the read-out on the speedometer, which is a corrected value from the actual detected speed. I set the cruise control on my car to 130km/h (on the speedo) gps reads out 125km/h, then I reset the average speed while at this speed, so the average readout should then be the speed of the car, and this also reads 125km/h, so the speed is detected correctly its just the value on the speedometer is just corrected.
