torque

Hi guys , does anyone know how much torque a M135i , can handle through its gearbox and diff ? :thumbs:

Auto box:

GA8HP45Z is rated at 450nm (petrol) and 500nm (diesel) - my own research.

Manual box:

GS6-45BZ (which I guess is also 450nm)

Hope this can help until the experts help out with my findings and the diff :thumbs: this does mean the box is at its limits with the power the car makes which does not make sense to me...

Those are nominal torque input figures..

George Smooth should be able to give accurate input - I seem to recall figures being bandied about of around 600-650 Nm max on the autobox, and 700-750 Nm on the manual... however, the stock clutch would be the weak point on a manual box.

The diffs are unlikely to cry uncle at those kind of torque figures - the gearbox would take the punishment and most likely break first..

Diffs get killed by running too hard for too long without a diff cooler, or when you slap semi's on the rear and wind up snapping sideshafts / breaking diff casings when launching like a savage.

Seems wierd that they could not be able to handle 600-700nm of torque easily?

so getting close to the 600nm figure you would have to start getting worried.
