To motorplan or not

So my 2011 e90 320d is sitting on 90000 km's. Motorplan expires May 2016. I'm averaging around 15000 km's a year.

In the last 10000km's I've had a new clutch fitted as I picked up a slight shudder and over and above normal services I've had brand new discs front and back fitted.

I was at BMW yesterday for a service and asked the guys for a quote to extend. They came back with R31000 to extend for another year and 15000 km's.

I'm thinking once it's finished to rather save up some cash and take the car in to a indy like Ross Duncan. What are your opinions? Would you extend?

Also in the same situation with my 135i, cost is also 31k for an additional year and 15000km.

I average 10000km per year.

Won't be renewing but keeping the cash to maintain it.

ask yourself this ...... are you going to get R31 000 worth of service from them, maybe a service (if a breakdown, then awesome, you saved money)

but lets be realistic here......Nope, you wont get that amount worth of service. Plus you have a whole forum of techs here, all it is going to cost you is go to the search button up above and search it. Service go to the people the others go to here, heck you can even get advice for which one to go for.

We are family, if you don't see the need for the value for money then we are here

I've got 91 XXXkm on my 2011 E90 LCI 320d and I am not going to extend. I will rather take out a aftermarket warranty.

I can't justify the cost for only 1yr and 15 000km's.

It's a risk, but you're better off in the 320d than a 320i out of motorplan.

i would not extend at that rate

If you can get them to change the crank pulley while still on plan it will be a bonus. get some minor suspension stuff changed

Save around 10k. Get the gearbox (If auto) serviced at ZF for 5k
Fit a down pipe and put software.

They are not troublesome cars so i dont see how you will use that 30k

I would ensure that any issue you think there is must be sorted out before MP expires.

After that aftermarket warranty and do regular maintenance.

Thanks for the input. I agree....no point redoing MP on this sort of car. I'm sure it will look after me as much as I look after it.

With my melon i have, definitely extend, since i have extended my plan i had BMW spend more on the car than the car is actually worth.

Excuse my ignorance, but why the crank pulley? I do have an annoying 'high pitched' sound on startup. Sounds like a wheel needing oil. Coming from front of engine on 320d. Might be it?
