To go Touring or not

Hi all

Looking at maybe buying a E39 Touring, seen a few on Autotrader and Gumtree ranging from 70k to 120K

What should I should out for, i.e problem area that could cost me later.
Is SAt/Nav worth 20K, two 525 E39 Touring one for 70K and one with all the bells in 90K, same Kms (160 000km) both are manual or is the BMW auto box better.
I drive E34 525 manaul and it is quite faster enough and easy to drive.

but I also found a E24 on the web for a fair price 40K :dunno:

Local dealer has a White 1996 E38 740 with 261000km for 59K is okay condition, 2 owners, all the toys:dunno:
and 1999 E39 540 for 90K - mad price - no sunroof on a 540I :shocked:

Your looking all over the place. Ask your self first what do you want it for, how is going to be used. The E39 is a great car. But as with all old cars they have wear. Some parts can get costly but it will be something that gets replaced now and is the good again few long time.

At the end of the day you'll have maintenance cost, but todays cars I dont think is aswell built as the older ones.

You have too ask your self after a long day at work what do you want to drive home? What do you want to see standing in the drive way.
