Timing chain - replace or not?

So on my diesel bakkies, I do timing belt replacements every 100 000km.

The BMW engines got chains, and according to some, needs no changing. But I am paranoid I guess....

Is it advisable to do a timing chain replacement/service?
Or will I be wasting good money?

Your thoughts and opinions are much appreciated.

If you have an e28 M5 then yes. The M88 does need chain replacement as early as 100k, but any other BMW engine...... Don't bother. Unless it makes a rattling noise, but that would be unusual

Never is a very long word.
On older cars chains were replaced at 100000km but it was more about the chain tensioner and guide.
Newer vehicles with better engineering design are good for 300000km.

O.k. Thanks.

I'm especially paranoid about the tensioner.

But there's no funny noises. SO I guess I'm good still
