Have been in the market for an easy live with Auto for my mum (she turns 70 soon and has been wanting a new car forever).

I have been browsing AutoTrader and using AI to find out more about cars. The Suzuki Across has been top of mind to me, seems like excellent proposition all things considered.

Pricing around R380k new
1.5 6 speed torque converter auto
Good spec

Cons performance (but for my purpose don’t think this is an issue)

Anyone have experience with Suzuki brand . In my mind it’s a Toyota underneath and they seem to be doing very well in sales

Hey bud,
Looking at the 1.5 with the 6 speed auto, this was in dire need with the 1.5 engine. I have driven almost every model of the Suzuki and Toyota range over the last 7 months and the manuals are gems but the 4 speed autos were life draining, even at the coast. I have read many reviews over the Across and seen quiet a few, and the reviews have been great. Especially around the drivetrain match to that engine now.
Fuel consumption...always great...those engines are epic light on fuel...i drove them between RCB and DBN many times and even the gut wrenching 4 speed auto still was decent, I can only think the 6 speed auto will be tons better. And a decent sized vehicle, finishes are hard wearing and not too bad however Hyundai does better lol.
I'd say very much worth a shot to test drive and investigate further.

Across looks good and these Suzuki's are solid. I think the Toyota's are actually Suzuki inside on the shared models though, not the other way around.

Look at the Chery Tiggo Cross as well. 1.5T DCT 108kw. R360k. There's a cheaper LiT version with a 1.5 NA CVT for R309k as well.
