and there really isnt much in it in a straight line between the E46 M and the 3.2 E36.Handling the E46 is in a league of its own!

Found the same thing back when I had my e46 M3. There was absolutely nothing in it between the e46 and my friend's e36 M3 3.2.

And I second your sentiments about the handling on the e46 being way superior.
