yeah you will have to fork out extra bucks to get that straight six sound.

the new 3 looks like a 5-series mixed with a e90 not too excited about this one,
IMHO the e46 3-series still remains the best looking 3-series.

I am keen on the 4 cylinder turbo.
Better fuel consumption, more power.
More tunable
"This new engine is a 2.0L gas powered 4-Cylinder engine which uses BMWs TwinPower turbo technology, good for 245HP and 350Nm of torque. This engine is closely modelled after its 6-cylinder brethern N54 and uses an all-aluminium crankcase, precision direct fuel injection, with VALVETRONIC."

Honestly, i like the E36, E46 rates as the best looking but the E90 does have some really good lines, i find myself staring at my car alot when finding a new angle to look at it from. i guess the right colour combo also helps the cars lines show out more too

...just me but it's getting harder for me to like these new beemers, and now this whole 4 cylinder business...

Maybe I'm just old school but I grew on a diet of M20s, M30s, M50s...it's that era that got me hooked on BMs and the M52, M54 continued that lineage nicely for me. Never thought I'd see the day when an x28i would be a forcefed I4...

+1 I share your sentiments, always loved the M52 and the likes, but the good part is that those motors will eventually (if not already) become classics in their own right, the raw power of the E30 and E36 I6 line - up was just superb.

For sure!

...this is all sounding rather Audi-esque...:fencelook::fencelook:

I really want to see the finished product in person before I judge.

I don't think they will ever be able to reproduce the iconic image of the models produced prior to 2004 (not only the 3 series).

I love the spyshots that I've seen. I think the 4 cylinder turbo will be great. BMW will live up to their established image. They have to.

For what I've seen and read, It looks good. Smaller engine, more Kw, Hope it keeps the rear-wheel tradition. Fuel consumption not bad at all.

Nearly every BMW released since the E46 hasn't appealed to me at first, but they have grown on me and once the shock goes away, you appreciate what BMW does!
