Test Nr: - - and my tyres

hi all,

I have recently discovered that there is a "Test Nr: - -" thing in my BMW 328i 1998 model. I don't have a clue what this is for. Anyone got any ideas for me?

Secondly, I have recently bought new tyres from Hi-q. I got 225/45 ZR17 in front (which I didn't asked for) and at the back igot 235/40 ZR17. Now each time I drive in 3rd gear and I come near 80 Km/h, my traction control kicks in. Now I have to buy myself new tyres just to have this issue fixed.

You have found the hidden feature menu :excited:
Use the '1' and '10' buttons to increment the test nr xx, and use the "SET" button to select the test.

You can get features such as Instantaneous fuel cons, vehicle speed (from the ABS sensor). Fuel tank level (%), battery voltage etc.

Have fun

Zling, I had the traction control problem with Pirelli P6000's on the rear. Moved them forward and added some Michelins at the back and all was well. Now you unfortunately can't move, so rather have the Hi-Q dealer try and swop it out for you at the supplier.
Hope you get it fixed!

Thanks HELLAS. but my problem is that my car has low suspension and therefor I need the 225/40 tyres. But no tyre manufacturer is producing these tyres anymore:cursin:

I have managed to get Hi-q and Dunlop to agreed on replacing the tyres, but they didn't keep me contacted. They just told me that I must pay in the difference for the tyres (R1300 difference) which I didn't had that time. Now I am afraid if I asked them which tyres will suit me best then I will have to pay alot more.

I so wanted to call the manager (maybe the owner) and let them change the tyre due to their fault on their side.

Ok... I think I have found the problem of why my traction control kicks in everytime I come near 80 KM/h. I was about to email the branch manager of Menlyn to find a solution when I went to check what the sizes are on my rims. Geuss what, the 2 in the front differs from each other than the 2 at the back.

The left front is 995 (got it at the valve) and the right one is 895:cursin:. Hopefully, this is the only problem as I don't want to spend too much money on getting new tyres.:cursin:

I am going tomorrow morning to switch the spare rim with the left one, cause the spare is also a 895.

One more question... Should a tyre manufacturer had picked up this problem when they put the new tyres in or not?
