Hi guys

please can someone please assist/advise. i have a 325Ci e46. The temperature reading on the onboard computer keeps displaying 50 degrees, no matter what and when. But when i wash the car, i assume the sensor gets messed up somehow, cause it the flashes on -40 degree's and gives off a beep. Once the car has dried off or driven for a bit, it returns to 50. Anyone know what might be causing this? thanks.

also when i start the car it tells me the km's till the next service. Mine just stays on 23450km all the time.

appreciate any assistance. thank you!

Not sure about the service indicator, but as far as the temperature read out goes I would assume that the sensor is either faulty or improperly connected, this usually leads to its displaying min and max values. The beep it gives though is normal, it does that when the outside temp is below 3 degrees C, just to warn you that there might be ice on the road, so it beeps seeing as the car thinks the outside temp is -40 degrees C.

Thanks Sankekur

Where does that sensor sit? or if a new one is needed, any idea how much it is and i assume its through BMW only?

If I am not mistaken it is on the passenger side, behind the front bumper. Dealers would be probably be your best bet, not sure about the price though.
