Neven whats the latest update?

Im interested in a R56 but this recurring issue that they cant fix is putting me off :fencelook:

Hey Cooper

Latest is the head is now off. Not sure if they replacing but I think they on the right track as its combustion related. Il pop in next week to see what's going on. For now, we just getting feedback via the service advisor.

Statistically, the problem does not affect many cars. It's just a small percentage that are. I've driven many R56 that were perfect. Having said that our was perfect for about a year. As much as my wife hates not having her car she's still very attached to it and I have to admit I am too.

I believe the problem was totally eradicated with the new spec (135kw). We have one as a loan car and I must say with the Sport Button on and DSC off she is a thrill to drive.

Actually provides as much fun factor as the M3......

Ok. I'm exaggerating but you catch my drift.

Cheers.

Hey Neven

I have a JCW 2010. I have complained about the same problem since March. The agents have told me the engine needs replacing, which has been done today. Still have to pick my car up and test it out.
Are you still experiencing problems with yours?

Hey Yogz

It is but almost non-existent. Only occurs when you try to re-create the problem.

Thanks Neven

Lets hope I get sorted too. They have changed timing belt, plugs, put in fuel additive and upgraded the software already. Btw initially, before they decided to replace the engine, they said the software needs to be upgraded, a month after they just did. Wonder if those compression results are fake as well!!

Its all fake mate, they tried to con me like that too at Bruma BMW...

My cars engine was never replaced as I opted not to replace it(Out Of MP), and I have managed to solve the issue by using only Vpower fuel and injector cleaner every 5000km's. Oh and 1 huge tip, I halved my service intervals to about 10-12000km's.

I have done 25000km's since the issue first occured and my car is still running well. Knocking has totally gone.

Thanks Hotchocolate

They replaced the engine (still under motorplan), picked up the car last Thursday and the noise and problem occurred again on Friday. Took it back to the dealership straight away. Could not reproduce the noise there so they told me to monitor it. It has occurred numerous times since then. Guess you right, there was no need to replace the engine.

Hi guys

My JCW has been experiencing 'super knocking' the day after the engine was replaced, like Neven's. After two weeks it was called back by BMW in for 'tests' according to the guys at the dealership. the technician told me that the soft ware was upgraded again and some parts changed as per BMW but the car still experiences the problem. It still under motor plan. Now
BMW have sent me a letter stating that 'super knocking' is a safety feature. They have also said they are working with their counterparts in Germany to find a solution, if that fails they will have to develop new software but will take time due to the rigorous sign in processes.

Any advice??

There's no proper fix for it, I think you wasting your time.

According to carbon doctor he done a clean on one and it got rid of the Super knocking.
If you search overseas forums they also recommend walnut blasting also known as decoking.

Just read your post, you have a new motor so it must be clean in there. Perhaps it's the fuelling issue, our grade of fuel isn't as high as overseas.
