Where can I take a 540 to get the sunroof fixed?

it stopped working only miking that grrrrr noise as if there are stripped gears in there.

I know a sunroof fix can be expensive but I don't think it needs to be if you know the right ppl.

PS I am in Centurion / Midrand

if its open try pressing ur key in the lock position and holding it so that it closes.

have u checked with a dealer what the cost is?

have u by any chance found out what exactly is the problem?

tilt and lift bar at the back was bent and damaged, the replaced it
rubber gasket replacement fairly pricey about R1000
alignment and call out charges (they came out twice)
all and all R3600 :dropjaw:
but its fixed now and enjoying every second of it.

Sunroof Boyz they come to you, this was the best suited for me.

yeah well it needed to be done,

what gets me is that they fit glass sunroofs for R5000

that is from scratch !

Wonder what the interior looks like after that has been done. Well the dealership charge more or less that price if you want it to be an optional extra on a new cab... or is it R10K.

well they do a very good job i must be honest and the 1st time they came out they said don't worry about the roof liner and don't try and clean it cause its gonna stain, got in the car and got a fright of my life seeing the dirty roof liner, i did as they said by not trying to clean is and drove a a car that looked like a mechanics car for 2 days :) but they came back and fixed the roof and cleaned all the marks.

happy with the immaculate service, bit grumpy about the price but would recommend them any day.

This was all done Thursday and Friday night my ignition tumbler broke yeah ! NOT ! fing car cost me R3600 on Thursday and another R1500
yesterday to get the ignition and key fixed. (almost lost the chip that went into the key, but after a few beers  i found it in the door compartment phew !!)

Yeah it really sucks when one thing packs up while you are still fixing another. Then i better start saving. But the last time i spoke to my mech he said i need to replace the mechanisim and it costs less that R1k from the slearship then he would have it fitted for me... :dunno: jus have to weigh my options.

I have used Johan on a number of sunroofs - impeccable job...but don't stand there while he works - you will end up with 'ticker' problems

The rear tilt bars on the E39's seem to be a common problem @ +/- R800 per side + any other components

Closed the garage door on the open (tilted) sunroof. Scratches on roof as well. Sunroof would close and tilt afterwards, but was rather floppy when tilted open. Got a quote of R2500 to replace cassette of sunroof in order to fix floppyness. Decided to fix it myself. Got a tilt and lift bar (opposite side to what i needed was all i could find) off a broken E36, took my broken one out, modified the "new" one and refitted it and it worked, all for R50 plus VAT. Scratches on roof was paid for by the insurance.
