Stripped bolt thread

i have 2 stripped bolt threads on my valve cover , the threads are actually still on the bolts. what to do?

Its about time that we get a thread about stripped bolts, oh wait that's not what the title meant

I'd say go to a scrapyard and find a replacement, they usually have a bunch of them on engines being taken appart.

its actually the thead in the head not on the bolt , would i need to have the hole tapped with a new thread and put bigger bolts in ?

Or timeserts/helicoils. But if there is space, upsize.

depends how the bolt broke.

If you are super careful, you can maybe get the bolt out with an easyout, and just reuse the old holes, just watch the metal filings into the open head.....

But kak job waiting for you, if memory serves, those bolts are quite thin, which means your more then likely to stuff up the threads.

the bolts are out and are fine the threads in the head are no more just nice holes , i contacted acorn fasteners in centurion they have a helicoil kit they wil get back to me with the details though
