Stop Rape

Im telling you boys this because I was a victim in this. And the worst of all it was a person that did all the events for a place that delt with rape awareness. going to a head doc wasn't an option for me because there was never money to do so.

Maybe your approach should not just be "Stop Rape" but making victims aware that there are people there to help and that its ok to tell someone. I didnt tell anyone because I was told its my fault. That's the problem with 90+% of rape victims. They think its there fault. This cause is great but you boys are missing a VITAL part.

So before getting all dismissive about what I am trying to say, read this carefully and think about it. Stopping this would be great but making woman know that its ok to voice out that its wasnt their fault is where you should be thinking of going to with this. Like I said the cause is great. No one is wasting your time Herman, but there is more to what is going through the mind of a rape victim than you boys on this forum think.

Im NOT telling you people this to make you feel sorry for me, in fact what happened to me made me a much stronger person today, Im telling you this to think about the other side as well. Rape wont stop until females starts standing up for them self and not blame them self, to voice if something happened to them and not be scared to do so.

I'm am desperately sorry to hear. I can't imagine what I would do if someone I knew closely had to go through this.

But I agree with you that the biggest issue re rape is the issue of the victim keeping quiet, allowing the offender to be free and strike again. Allowing the offender to get married and have children, if he hasn't already. And what's to stop him from raping his own family, as is heard of so many times in this country? And because he's family, or a close friend, the victim won't speak out because the victim doesn't want that spotlight of having put a family member or friend in prison.

Once a rapist, ALWAYS a rapist!

Ters, this happened many many years ago, no need for feeling sorry but my biggest concern like I tried to tell herman is the fact that woman and children that goes thought this keeps quite. Many people that goes through this cant accept life afterwards and cant face another day.... People like those of you on this that feels so strong about this needs to make people (victims) aware that you there for them and that you will listen to the silent voice.

Rape victims needs to know that there are people out there that cares and that they will in fact listen! If a person has confidence that there are someone who will listen they will open up.

I use to work with many rape victim and there is one thing they all shared, fear. Once they started trusting me they started opening up. I think its up to people like the men on this forum to inform these people that its not their fault and they there are people who will listen.

Hit two birds with one stone. Make the public aware and let those victims know you care. I admire you herman. Its real men like you that looks a problem in the face to speak for those that doesnt.

PS Ters, I have been counseling many victims, Dont think I need it anymore! but thanx anyways.

:praise: To all you boys for making a difference!

Hi Pinky,

I am so very sorry to hear this, and admire your strength.

What we are aiming to do here is create awareness by offering helpline contact numbers on the sticker, maybe a crude device, but visible, especially when we have volumes moving. I think the big issue here is the message on the sticker? Maybe something like “speak out against RAPE” is more appropriate?

I most certainly agree that funds need to be raised to keep the support centers going, and we will have some kind of fundraising next year as this year is up and Christmas time is upon us. Although, if like myself other individuals support these NPO’s outside of the forum we are already making a difference.

I am happy to meet with you and other member who want to add some more ideas and creativity to this cause, coffee and cake is on me.

PS’ I am discussing special fanatic’s candles with WAR which I will try and market in the forum and hopefully we can get a good volume sold.

Share your ideas with us, this is a team effort after all.

@Herman sorry for not yet posting up the colour change, time has flew by and work got a bit hectic will do it asap.
Also the candles will be great, is there any other ongoing ways we can help raise funds for them?

@Pinky big ups to you girl for getting up from that, not everybody can get up after this without help.

I do how ever agree with you, maybe we can add something to the stickers to maybe get a victim in contact with someone who will help and listen? And I think chef said that people dont really want to talk out if its a close friend or family member but the thing there is especially if the victim is a child parents dont always listen or if they listen they dont believe them and then in my opinion they are also to blame for the victim getting raped again.

and then

@ters meybe get those counsellors details to pink so she can maybe give it out to other victims or something?

Thunder, great idea, never thought about that. Maybe we can create a fanatics website for this that could list peoples names thats willing to help and listen. perhaps this could be added to the sticker. What do you boys think? Herman?

I like that.

Now who will be in charge of that? or can the admins help us to maybe make it a piggyback site to the forum?

The true value being added her is humbling.

I support all forms of help and support we can offer as a community, and if there are qualified persons who can console victims and who is prepared to do so, well, then this thread has already achieved so much without one drop of fuel being used to rev an engine while showing off a car.

I think it is time we meet as a group, we can get some ideas on paper and eventually meet in person.

Sounds like a plan, and true we have made some real progress.

Correct, we did not meet. Go read my comments on the Gauteng Charity Run, which will pretty much explain my future involvement in such events.

Hi guys, on my way home I was listening to 5FM and they had a stop rape effort on the go.... the chief man from Lead SA guaranteed that this is only the start and it would be a continuous effort to bring awareness and they have a number of ideas they are working on...

South Africa is the rape capital of the world, with a rape reported every 4 minutes. What a country we live in. It is said that almost all efforts to create awareness on this subject is done by women... so where are the men? maybe not enough of the guys making a stand!!

Hence the reason for my post, what can we do to.... now, I know we cannot go and put these bastards to a nasty end... so what to do??

How about we, the Fanatics community, do a county wide awareness rally... of course each state will do their individual rallies..

Now I don’t have masses of connections but maybe, as a joint effort we can get some of the branding and wrapping guys on board, maybe some tuners.... brand our cars with clear STOP RAPE signs, contact number for crime watch and other help lines, do a slow rally.. get 5FM / newspapers on board to, with their team set up a couple of stops.

This is an important cause we need to give our support to.

What do you guys think?
