Stop Rape

Hi guys, on my way home I was listening to 5FM and they had a stop rape effort on the go.... the chief man from Lead SA guaranteed that this is only the start and it would be a continuous effort to bring awareness and they have a number of ideas they are working on...

South Africa is the rape capital of the world, with a rape reported every 4 minutes. What a country we live in. It is said that almost all efforts to create awareness on this subject is done by women... so where are the men? maybe not enough of the guys making a stand!!

Hence the reason for my post, what can we do to.... now, I know we cannot go and put these bastards to a nasty end... so what to do??

How about we, the Fanatics community, do a county wide awareness rally... of course each state will do their individual rallies..

Now I don’t have masses of connections but maybe, as a joint effort we can get some of the branding and wrapping guys on board, maybe some tuners.... brand our cars with clear STOP RAPE signs, contact number for crime watch and other help lines, do a slow rally.. get 5FM / newspapers on board to, with their team set up a couple of stops.

This is an important cause we need to give our support to.

What do you guys think?

Hi,

i agree with you that it is a very sad thing that is happening within and around our communities and am all for this awareness campaign!!!

I say: LETS DO THIS SHIZNEZZ!!:bravo:

Very noble cause Herman thanks for starting this thread.

Coincidentally I had lunch today with a lady who on her own time and pocket has begun an awareness campaign using poetry, performers and art and involving the youth.

Check out their initiative here.....https://www.facebook.com/RapeNoMore

Johannesburg theater is sponsoring the use of the theater for 5 days starting 10 to 14th September. Check out their page, perhaps showing support via a ticket R100 and attending a show we could best find out how else one who is willing could assist in other ways. PM me anyone who would like to organize tickets.

Dude brilliant idea, i think the wrap thing would be insane, why not brand at upcoming drag events, these low lives that harm women and kids should defn face the death penalty!

HEY!!

Some new movement here, yes lads… I am still very passionate about this cause and we managed to support some victims of this crime during our winter charity drive arranged my Fraser….

Let’s brainstorm a bit, what we can do, what should we do….

1. Brand and display our vehicles… I would do this, and with my car being visible most of the time I am sure it would make an impact…

2. Support the group Oresome is involved with; for sure… that is an easy one. In fact, I’ll sponsor 5 tickets, who wants them?? (I’m in Durban, so I will not be able to attend.

3. Get involved with the likes of 94.7 / 5FM…..

Group discussion…… to add value!!!

Would love to help with this, even maybe design some signage for the cars, just not sure if the witch will be running to join in on the event itself.

But I agree with Herman, lets get this discussion going and get inputs from all.

Hi Bruce thanks for the offer ….

What about those labels you put on your window, like used by advertisers…. So far we have 26 people (26 posts in 7 months :thumbdo:) who might be willing to put something on their cars to create awareness…

We can add logos, contact details of companies who are involved in this cause, but I am not sure if there would be some kind of copyright infringements??

Maybe that should be our starting point, who is involved; we can then approach the respective parties and inform them of what our intentions are.

As for an actually event, well that has never been my intention, this is not supposed to be a one shot deal…. It requires a continuous effort, so the branding is perfect.

And once we have enough interest, we can join one of the above mentioned parties on one of their missions.

Maybe we will have 30 posts by the end of the week… I remain hopeful.

Sounds like a plan.

Like normal stickers or those that you can see through?

Maybe get all the logos and or details to me and I can create something for the side windows or so?

The ones you can see through, we would not want to compromise safety.

Maybe two shapes that will fit side rear windows on sedan cars and coupe cars…

I’ll start looking at logo’s.

You are talking about the mesh looki g ones?
Seeing as that will have to be digitally printed it might cost a few bucks and have seen a few fade bad on cars thats in the sun alot. So my opinion is to get normal cut out stickers like the fanatic ones and we can arrange a sticker sticking day.

Last night of the Theater production chaps, starts at 7 at the fringe in Braamfontein. If you cant attend but still want to somehow give time or funds, please pm me! PS has anyone been?

I've copied in some more info below...

Venue: The Fringe

The RapeNoMore Theatre Production came about through a movement created by a few individuals in South Africa and one in the United States deciding to create an artistic documentary that will highlight factors that may be driving incidences of rape as well as creating an awareness surrounding rape; with the ultimate goal of shifting societal norms around rape and therefore enforcing a need for revision in not just tougher sentences, but also addressing the root causes of rape. Initially, we were only looking into filming a documentary but, overtime, we recognized the need to take this documentary and create a theatre production. We are starting with Joburg Theatre where many of the artists engaged in this production have performed. Among some of the artists are Simo Majola, Donald Neosapien Mokgale, Sanelisiwe Jobodwana, Mandy Poefficient Vundla, Lesedi Dipheko and others have agreed to collaborate with rapenomore artistic documentaries to use their combined talents to raise awareness around rape culture. We are excited about the opportunity that The Fringe -Joburg Theatre has provided us with and look forward to sharing with the audience an informative, thought provoking, entertaining live performances of highly talented young artists.

Sorry guys, I have not spent as much on this as I should have, I’m thinking basic stickers to start with, when we have captured the attention we want, we make a massive statement..

We will make a difference, believe me... and a lasting statement...

Why would people put all sorts of stickers on their cars and not one of ours.??

Stay tuned..

PM & Email me of you want to meet to chuck a couple of ideas around.

Guys please be patient, there is only a handful of us, so innovation is key

How bout we start with the stickers?

Any ideas of slogans or pictures?

Then I can have an idea of what to design. And also size?
