Steering pump

Hey guys,

So my steering pump on my 2007 e92 325i M-Sport Coupe has decided to give up the ghost. Talk about embarrassing when you reverse out of a shopping mall parking lot. The bloody thing sounds like an 18 wheeler's Jacobs brake ha ha ha.

So I got a quote from BMW, R9035.00.....so i swallowed and thought ouch. I service my car by Rob Green Motorsport and they quoted roughly the same price. Now, can anyone tell me if that part is available anywhere for a more human price? I've seen some on ebay, new, but mostly come from the US. Dunno if its worth the hassle.

I'd appreciate some guidance from anyone experienced in these matters. Thank you.

Try ZF Johannesburg. I know they do steering racks, probably the pump
as well! OEM btw

Hope I'm not too late. Long story short, got the same quote from BMW and ended up fixing it myself for less then R 150. I have a 330d and the powersteering pump is situated next to the crank damper pulley without a tentioner. When the belt stretched, you get the symptoms you have. I made a tentioner myself and voilà, it's fixed.

Best thing is that the 320 and 330 uses the same pump, it's only situated in different places. You don't hear of a 320 with powersteering trouble but the 330. The 320 has a tentioner but the 330 not. The 330 has crank damper pulley failure and the 320 not, the 330 uses a stretch belt and 320 a tentioner. That makes you think
