Hi guys

Once again i'm looking for help from my fellow fanatics as i'm not home and the wife is panicking about this problem.
She says that there's almost no steering as in the wheel dont turn properly and it is very stiff but the steering oil level is full.
What could this be? Could the steering pump be faulty and also a buddy of mine had a quick look at it and he says it could be a valve or something???

Any help will greatly be appreciated thanx:thumbs:

If she can still turn the wheel (with a LOT of effort) then it is more than likely the pump. When my pump failed, steering was ridiculously heavy and took a lot of effort to move.

This is exactly how she described it to me..i figure it's the pump then:thumbdo:
Anyway...anyone got an idea what's the cost of a steering pump for an 04 330i E46?

Yea, what Moranor said. Phone Goldwagen and Masterparts to get prices...replacing it isn't to much of a mission either.

When I was reading up on the failures, found that the original pump is quite weak whereas the new ones (the one you will replace it with) is a lot stronger and will definitely last.

Seems to be a common problem on the E46. Replacement pump is in the region of R1600.
