Stealer radiator rip off

So I need a new radiator for the E39 540i after fiddling with a small leak and inadvertantly making it a big one.

The folowing prices are both for a genuine Behr radiator (Identical)

Silverton Radiators R1400.00

BMW R 8192.00

How the Hell do they justify charging 5.8 times as much?

Makes me sick, after 30 odd BMW's I think I'll just sell the damn thing and quit thanks......

I have a theory on this.

Perhaps BMW has caught onto how many aftermarket guys there are, and figured, we are in the business of selling new cars, and we will keep the motorplan up... after that, they want the car to break and get stuffed up, so that the dude will buy a new one.

I donno..

I do hear you though Rick... tis down right scary...

They charge this price so that the sucker that buys this can pay for for the motorplan radiator (or other parts) replacement of 4 other guys. Even though we all know how bad part prices are at the dealers, it is shocking every time you see it again, sometimes I can't help but just laugh when I check a part price from the dealers.

Agree, I needed right rack end. BMW wanted R 1900 for just the end. Zeemax managed to get the part and install it for R 1700 (inc labour). I would like to overhaul my cooling system soon, im getting to that millage. going to be interesting

Bmw in England had an idea a few years ago to reduce certain fast moving spares prices for cars 5-15 years old - sales went up and the ammount of goodwill generated must have helped new car sales .

Now that's an intelligent move, whish our local BMW would do that.
