Howsit guys, so i have been having some issues with my 318is, started couple months ago when it over-heated but it never went past 3/4 on the heat gauge. That ended up being my thermostat, a month or so after changing that (Behr part) aswell as my water pump (meyle) just because it was old, it overheated in terrible traffic, that was because of the fan switch failing, so i changed that (from masterparts) and the radiator so i know my cooling system would be basically overhauled but i forgot about the the two plastic pipe connector thing, under the intake and behind the head, and then the day after installing the new rad the one behind the head blows up. I then end up changing both with parts from bmw.
Bringing us to two weeks ago where i was losing a small amount of coolant, about 15mm on the expansion a week of driving (+-200km). After trying to find the leak for a while i gave up, took my car to silverton radiators to do a combustion test to test if the head gasket was blown, it wasnt. They then pressure tested and the brand new radiator poped at the join between the expansion tank and rad. The spares shop i bought the rad from gave me a new rad had it fitted, bled and all was good...... until two days ago when i notice im losing coolant again, about the same amount as before.
I dont know what to do now, can a second brand new rad be faulty ? is the combustion test that silvertons to 100% accurate? is there something im missing or didn't change????
I have checked all the rubber pipes and they all seem good, checked for leaks, especially around the connectors that were changed and at the seam between expansion tank and rad, nothing. Oil is clean, coolant is clean, no smoke or steam from exhaust as far as i can see. I even put white paper on the floor under the car over a few nights, left the car idling for an hour or so with the paper, NOTHING!!!!!!
Any advice would be helpful.
