Sprint Booster

Hi, has anyone installed a Sprint Booster on their M6? How does this mod work. All I heard, is that it gives you better, much quicker throttle response and there is no lagg through rpms or gear changes. Who stocks this mod. Would like to learn more about this.

I have the BMS Powerbox on my E90 325i.

Throttle response is definitely improved over stock.
Car also drives a bit better (gear changes etc..)

I see the guys complain about the sensitivity on the sprint booster... Too sensitive :thumbdo:

@ Rooi-Willie - Have you upgraded software on your 325i with the BMS Powerbox installed or is it done without?

@ Netercol - Nice find and interesting. I read on the M5 board that almost all of the guys have sprint boosters on their M6's and M5's and they desribed it as "WOW" on both the SMG and Manual Trans. When on M Mode, it is even more noticeable of the difference.

Would be nice to know if any one on this forum has this on the V8 or V10's and what do you make of the performance with quicker throttle response.

Doesn't the M6 have a "Sport" button? This is basically the same as a sprint booster, on the E46 M3 and E39 M5 at least.

does it feel like these work? yep..
why? because it makes for a more "sensitive pedal"

100% pedal movement is reached in two thirds of physical pedal movement, the last third is basically dead pedal .. so smaller foot movement will produce bigger results..

can same results be reached cheaper? yep, just move your foot more

Try driving in peak hour traffic in "M" mode, and you will soon want to forget about this all in the mind performance mod

The funny thing about these things is that for a lot of cars you can get a second hand diff for cheaper, that will also make your car feel more responsive, and in some conditions actually make your car faster.......but these kinda things follow a well known business principle: "A fool and his money are soon parted"

I agree with Sank. I have been discouraging guys from using the "sprint booster" for the same reasons...but people normally go ahead and buy it anyway. Its like the "throttle spacers" they sell for the x35 cars for "more" power....total crap but people still buy it.

do some research and understand "WHY" it seems to work, then you will understand why its a ripoff..

there is a huge difference between 'throttle response' and throttle response...

making the pedal more sensitive does not make better throttle response it only makes it harder to drive smoothly...

REAL throttle response from something like say Individual throttle bodies is completely different... with REAL throttle response the engine reacts quicker to changes in throttle input so the pedal does not need to be any more sensitive and can still be driven smoothly when you want to...

an extreme example is to illustrate the point...
will putting a light switch in where your accelerator is make your car any faster?
it sure as hell will make it harder to drive nicely :rollsmile:
