Anthony wanted to de risk his new M3 and we have been talking about it coming up to Jhb for some time.

To cut a long story short the car arrived mid December and I drove it straight to Gert for an upgrade on the ECU operating system as well as an upgrade on the throttle software.

The throttle is far more linear now with good feel so for those of you who have been thinking about it I encourage you to do it.

For those of you who do not know what Gert looks like...well now you do.

The car is particularly clean and I would put it on par with Moose's and Ashlin's car with Moose's old car whilst under his ownership as being the yardstick.
This is what I found when I stripped.

That is an OCD owner for sure.

How are those rims shod with Pirelli rubber.

Cams were first retarded and then measured with the factory tool to establish position.
Both inlet and exhaust were out by a few degrees...as in 2 degrees or there about not 15.

Once I established the cam locations I stripped them off so that I could clean the head.

Looking forward to this one, awesome work as usual bud.

Please update your current rides Moose....you should not be embarrassed for changing cars as regularly as people change underpants...

Yeah this car is pretty much perfect already. An excellent base to work from.

And clearly I was giving Peter a piece of my mind in that pic, warning him to make sure he doesn't screw up the timing on this car. Again.

I have made it in the world, I finally have my own Axis thread :)

What an amazing experience, dealing with Peter is like dealing with a friend who truly does care about your car as much as you do. Worth every penny getting the car back and forth tp Gauteng, and I can see my e92 and maybe even the E36's making the trip, if Peter can find the time.

Best Xmas present ever!

Thanks!

And thanks to Gert too.. (you good looking bugger, you :) )

Ready to drop the sump and start with the oil pump and bearings.

Ordered control arms and bushes from the agents on the basis that whilst we are there we may as well do that....

I should make good progress tomorrow all things being equal.

Upgraded the bolts that retain the hub support on the cam to the later type.
I am a bit out of focus but you get the general idea :)

Also did the rattle kit on the spline shafts

Car came with an oil leak which upon inspecting the sump answered the question.

Rod bolts are 11mm on the early cars.
We had bought them some time back in anticipation of the refresh.
