My point exactly, the reason why it was featured, is cause its the bosses car from S&S.
I dare any of you to email them with your cars specs and see if it gets featured.

Does anyone have a car that is feature worthy?

No disrespect Coisman but I think you talking a bit of kak if they asked you for money to be featured.
Did you build the car with the hope of having it in the magazine? It seems like the rejection has cut you deep. Cars featured in these magazine is relative to the readers demands. They get all sort of fan mail etc and they obviously feature cars that is in their best business interest. Maybe at the time the Vtech's where outplayed to death who knows what there decision was.
If you have any pics of the car why not make a thread and we can judge if we would like to have that car be on of probably eight cars that get featured per month.

Just read a few pages of this thread and although its a bit old, its Friday, Im bored and Im going through old posts and thought I should respond as I have first hand knowledge on the subject.

Basically some of you guys have no idea what you are talking about!!!!

SNS do not ask to be paid to feature your car. I was lucky enough to be featured with my car a few years ago and I didnt have to pay. As for the other cars that get featured, they get featured based on a set of criteria.....now get your self some cleanex and wipe away your tears because if your car did not get featured it is because either it was not good enough or they did not see it. they get literally thousands of requests.....i know especially in the early days and I am sure it probably has increased since then.

It is unfortunate that when you are top of your game you get a bunch of haters for various reasons. We seen them come and go......magazines like Road Rage who last all of about 6 minutes to some of the more recent ones......they didnt have the magic!

The SNS guys are all a bunch of great people who are down to earth, approachable and passionate about their cars and the industry.
For example Joel aka Batty (Annies husband) (annie and joel started the magazine) loves two types of cars......BMW's and Hondas (for some weird reason), Annie is passionate about, BMW's and VW's and there have been other brands in their garages from Uno's to fords to Alfas etc etc. I know these guys from the very early days and I can tell you they made a whole bunch of sacrifices in order to get the magazine to where it is now.

In their team they have fanatics for a variety of brands so I can promise you they are not pro any specific brand.

You haters also need to see what SNS has done for the industry and I believe that this industry would not be anywhere near as big as it is now if it wasnt for SNS.
Trust me, I have seen the progression over the last 10 years......

Daaamn some funny shit in here.

"Donation" for a feature? Hahahahaha, never in my 12 years here! :biglol:

We've featured so much BMW content that I couldn't even count.

Also, no Golfs in every issue. But think about it, with so many out there, don't you think it's harder to make yours stand out tastefully from the rest? Yes, there's a Golf in the current issue. Hasn't been for a while. That said, next issue has a sweeet E30 again.

:ty: for a good Friday:roflol:

I have every issue from issue 4 , ......some :argh: er decides to bind it like a :argh: ing drum magazine and call it a retro issue .....

I buy the mag , take it home and lightly browse through it , it goes into my bookshelf and my old issues are in better condition than a new " huisgenoot " .

Shows what these guys think about loyal purchasers of this mag , make it now disposable ......

Times change and the mag must make money ....
I have a lot of paper to light braai fires with .....I am not into meat though !!

Boycott it? If you feel you must, who's to stop you? Why would you wanna, especially when we've featured three BMW Fanatics events (could be more)?

There are plenty other BMW fans who still buy the magazine, fans from othere forums and that aren't part of any forums at all. That will never change.

As for what's changed - nothing with the magazine. I think it's that while the magazine has been around, many of the readers started off as youngsters and they're now older and have moved on in life. The magazine still caters for that target market, and while things have expanded over the years, many have still outgrown the magazine. It's not a bad reflection on the magazine or the readers, it's the cycle of things.

Thanks to those who have been supporters for years, and thanks to those who were and aren't anymore, you've all gotten us to where we are today.

Whats with you guys nagging like this? I have been buying SNS for years now, myself and my son stack the old issues in crates, and it made for nice reference guides when I still used to play with my sentra.

Its a great mag, so if it is not for you, why the nagging? Buy another magazine. You don't see me carrying on about another mag, that I don't like, I simply don't buy it. So what if the binding was different on the latest issue, yeah, I was also like "what the heck?" But some may like it, I cant expect to have my way every issue.

Show me a magazine that will feature us on a page for our Fanatics Branding.

Come on e guys, if its not for you, let it be, why step on people who worked hard to get their magazine to where it is, also I don't see any other magazine actively involved in SA motorsport, and the promotion there of.

maybe I picked up a bad issue last moth but the paper was kuk...content was good though

Oh, then sometimes pictures are "over edited"...way too much contrast used...Especially event coverage. think older issues with less photo editing worked better :fencelook:

Im not moaning as this is still the only mag of its kind worth buying in SA.

I don't get what this is all about guys.

SNS has served the motoring community very well since they started out, and made a huge success out of it.

I was once a loyal buyer but has since "outgrown" the whole street racer scene and stopped buying the mag. But can't resist picking it up now and then and have a browse through what's going on in the local scene:rollsmile:

At the end of the day, BMW's aren't your tipical boy-in-the-hood kinda car, and it would take something really tastefull to have such a car featured (and stand out from the crowd). The editors should have their reasons for selecting cars for features, as it is their magazine (and business for that matter). If we can't feature our cars, then it goes to show that we have to go to greater lengths than 19" rims, some led's, a carbon fibre wing or two and software.

SNS has, in my oppinion, never featured "ordinary" cars. I don't expect them to feature 99% of the cars on the forum.

Times changes, trends change, and they would be stupid to not change with it.

From my side, personally, thank you for doing the features on the meets of BMWFanatics. It really helps with creating awareness of our forum and our car brand

I think we would be stupid, as a forum, so cut ties with these guys. They can only help to promote our own little world.

Question : Krutch, what can we, as a forum, do, to be more active in the local scene and promote our forum and brand?

rhett, the last time I bought a S&S mag was the issue 90, march 2009, because of this problem.
My Honda was the first in the country to have the Lexus type import lights, and they were in carbon fibre, had full coil-over suspention, that cost me =/-R4500 in 2004, Mugen racecams, custom intake, polished and ported, full freeflow&exhaust, custom built by Speedspot, Dastec chip. Full ICE install, 2 of everything, amps, subs, 6x9's, supertweeters, only had 1 shuttle install, pushed 134db's. Full Veilside bodykit with carbon trim, carbon badges, and carbon interior trim...
I could go on, but the fact is, the closest I got was the readers rides in issue 39, and the only reason why I kept on buying the mag up to issue 90, was to finish my Tazz on the magazines when you stack them on the shelf.
So, I really don't think my comments are uncalled for, and my statements ring true, and that's how I feel, and thats my oppinion, and... Rant over! :)

Cois, how about posting some pics of your ride back then?

I think S50B32turbo was just teasing. Speed & Sound is no different than any other mag in the sens that some people like reading it and some people don't. The end.

Um...this is sick!!!

i know Krutch for the cracker he is, not only by Speed and Sound mag, but also on the forums. more so from the VWCSA scene and believe me, this Krutch and his team take kak and flack from all people who are insulted by not having feature-worthy cars, and by people who just dont understand and get confused about a lot of things, where the SnS team dont bite back and slander, they help them understand.

let me be really honest, i dont want to see Lexus-style tail-lights on a V-tech and a Rice body-kit with fugly rims and kak color that makes the owner were shades every morning, just to look at his car...but damn, thats my opinion on a vehicle and i am only one person. if research serves us right, and that car is in demand, then SnS will feature it and do it DAMN well!!!

i wont take anything away from SnS, i seen the mag grow from strength to the strength, but i really think everyone should calm down and approach the magazine team when they feel something isnt correct and get an amicable outcome.:thumbs:

if you do not know how to approach the situation, do you really think SnS has time to waste on you ranting and raving and moaning everywhere? We all adults here guys, and frankly, if you have been in the motoring scene for long enough, you should know your place and how to make a difference with a club, if not, then you got some learning to do and you are nowhere close to being able to shaft your words onto a public forum to say a magazine is kak...:nonono:

and on this forum, we have alot of guys taking a dig and throwing some jokes around, so...lets laugh, and live and enjoy the motoring scene guys...and Krutch isnt an unapproachable oke:thumbs:

Keep going strong SnS!!!:thumbs::thumbs:

I am not usually a SNS reader but couldn`t resist the other day with an MCoupe on the cover. Different strokes for different folks, I am not really a street racer type and most of the cars are hideous in my opinion. But it is just that, my opinion. The mag itself is top notch. Well put together and affordable.

SnS has done great things for the motor industry, no doubt in that. The magazine appealed to me when it came out and I was hooked for many years on the mag, I have well over 120 issues, if it weren't for the inspiration it created I wouldn't be where I am today, big up to SnS!

My only plight with the mag is the amount of golfs they feature, I hate golfs with a passion! This is why I don't buy the mag as religiously as I used to but every now and then they feature a BMW and I will buy the magazine just for that, oh and the adverts too.

Now if there were a SA performance BMW magazine I would sign up tomorrow for a subscription!:praise:

Thank you nic for noticing my behind the fence:thumbs: wow but the people let it rip neh

I haven't missed an issue yet, coz i can appreciate all cars. Its not a BMW grudge, coz we jus coming of an issue with a sick M coupe.
Wat a passive aggressive response from Krutch, very diplomatic. I agree with Krutch and his explanation of how its people that change.
Iv learnt so much from this mag, in fact i'm sure Krutch is 1 of the few people on the forum that can decipher my engine code name without having to google it. The mag is probably y i'm driving a sav turbo, the mag is probably the reason i get mad at people who don't know nething abt cars, coz sns break everythin right down to lay mans. Ne way thats enough of ass kissing and :praise: for sns:biglol: (stating more tease, jus in case the sns bouncers throw us out the forum)

Gizmo has 150 issues? Aren't we on 131 now

For the members who have jumped down our throats. This a forum! With threads to discuss wateva we feel needs to be discussed, so if we are all supposed to have your opinions, coz u know sns members, then must we ban threads that criticize sns? We have different opinions and views, its not a reason to crucify people. There wouldn't be a forum without opinions. Until then we will express our relevant opinions in the relevant threads.
