Hi guys.....

Can anyone tell me the model of this motor? And is it reliable? It's from a 2002 e39 525i touring.

Oh, and are there any seasoned e39's who would be able to check out this car with me? Please pm me. Thanks

More like virtually indestructible if maintained (based on experience of currently owning one with over 470k km's all original)

The pic attached is the actual motor in the car - so should i assume that it is well maintained... :slow:

It's impossible to tell from the external looks. A good engine wash will wash away oil and coolant residue and can be deceiving.

Best to get someone knowledgeable to look at it, get it onto a lift if possible.

The insulation tape on the maf wiring and the oxygen sensor plugs cable tied together and dangling down over the exhaust are the only things standing out in the pic.

I thought E39 had the washer bottle in the fender behind the front right tire?

Oh and the missing L shape rubber bonnet seal on the rhs.

That positioning for the water bottle is fine. My 530d had it in exactly the same spot...

Where is the car located?
