..... Oh sorry, I meant Faaaarging morons

Went to look for a car for my wife today. As it was Friday and dress down day for me, I thought I'd pop into a dealership before heading for the office .
Walked into used section..... Showroom was empty as all were in a meeting , but with an excellent view of the sales floor.
They saw me walk in, and none acknowledged me and continued with their meeting .
I walked out and into new car showroom in an opposite building... Lady at the front door did the meet and greet and I expressed my dissatisfaction with the used car guys .i told her that I should have come in suited an booted- sack that shite.
She asked if she should get one of them from across the road " please don't bother " I then went in to speak to a new car salesman.
WTFs wrong with people and their judging nature

Seems like that scene from fast and furious 6....

It unfortunately does happen. Judging a book by the cover.
Happened to me once at hugo boss at the waterfront couple of years ago- was looking for a suit for a wedding and I Was wearing a torn jeans and beanie and the sales guy as i was walking around said are you sure you can afford this...
Lets just say this ended by him running around getting me coffee and picking up all the suits and shirts that i tried on of the floor.
And i did buy the suit..

Completely Unacceptable...

I sold a 6 series BMW to a surfer dude in flip flops - the rest of our sales team nearly fainted.. I am slowly teaching them never to judge a book.

Happens to me all the time too. Dealerships, clothing stores... you name it.

I'm one of those people, I'm not really into clothes :yuck:

I prefer to spend money on other things, so I'm never dressed to the teeth. On top of that, I've been told I look 16, so when I pay people always ask me who's card this is...

Had the same experience at Audi fourways once. Was looking at a used S3 before I bought my 135i, guys did not even come to greet me when I walked in.

I've had this at a lot of car dealerships, they definitely judge you on first appearance.

I think it's a combination of being young and not dressing "fancy" - I bought my S5 wearing shorts, a shirt and worn out Supergas with holes in them, haha.

profiling....
my mate went to buy a new merc, they gave him the cold shoulder because of his clothes. So he went next door, bought a new bmw 540i, then came back to mercedez to boast about the deal they lost

Has happened to me plenty of times.. I distinctly remember how rude some of them get when they think you are wasting their time asking questions on a "car you can't afford" .. The same dude that gave me flack still works at the very same BMW dealer I go to often, as for my experience with audi and vw I will not even comment... will never in my life ever deal with that brand regardless.. :thumbdo:

Judging a book by its cover, first mistake of the selling/marketing game.

It is well know that some customers even go into disguise i.e. dress down when visiting dealerships, just to test out the dealer.

Then on the other end of the scale, you have the kids who's parents has a big bank balance and just doing the enquiring on behalf of the parents, so the sales person should always do their job and enquire about what the customer needs help with.

Well salesmen need to change their attitude if they don't want to lose potential business.

My cousin went to Mercedes back in 2007 to buy a new ML. Same story-he was in shorts, sandals and a t-shirt. Salesmen never gave him the light of day. Went straight afterward to BMW and bought a X5.

Has happened to me too :thumbdo:
In summer I never wear long pants. Always shorts and plakkies.

These guys forget that sometimes people with money prefer to dress for comfort and don't give a sh*t about what others think :dunno:

Happened to my brother in law years ago, went into Audi to view some new cars, no one got up to help him (he was 24 at the time) ended up walking into BMW bought a brand new 325, and actually went back to Audi walked up to the manager and said "look what I bought"

Can never judge a book by its cover..

I sold my car privately in 2010 and then decided to visit the dealerships along Witkoppen and pretty much all of them treated me like a street bum, well in fairness to them, I did show up on a bicycle...
