Congrats Bugger!

The 8 series are stunners IMO and their optional extras often seem to be ticked quite nicely!

Looking forward to some pictures and feedback on she she compares to the M550i. I wouldn't expect much difference though, maybe I am wrong.
Thanks man. Yeah I wasn't sure when the 8 first came out, I'm not a fan of the coupe, but the more I looked at the GC the more I liked it. And as you say, the spec list is well ticked. Has Bower's and Wilkins sound, which, according to the invoice, is a R70k option. But the rest of the spec list reads like a what's what of BMW extras. So I am quite taken aback at how well spec'd these are versus the M550i.

I am very interested to feel how different it will be, it's heavier than the 550, longer, wider, but active integral steering I think will make it feel a lot smaller and nimble than it's proportions lay out. My son is going to go wild. Another thing I noticed in all the vids I've watched is that it is a lot louder (externally and internally) than the 550 is and carries more of a V8 rumble. So another nice thing to compare. But super excited now.

Credit must go to @modocrat for giving me the reference in the first place, and then convincing me it was the right thing to do. I owe you a lunch!
Ok...if you REALLLLY say so...this is the same oke who just advised another person on the other thread (who wants to pay of their house by 2027) to sell the house and buy an R8 :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Congrats Bugger,

Wishing you many safe kms with the new beast.

I'm guessing Koko was your salesperson at SMG. She's an absolute OG, I've known her for many years and a few cars later.

I saw the car getting loaded onto the truck now, looks absolutely awesome.

She was indeed, thanks to the reference from Mr Modocrat! Which I am deeply appreciative for. Her service has been absolutely unreal!

Ah you got to see it before me lol. The pics she sent me this morning, the car looks stunning and in incredible condition, so I think I have done well. I decided, this was my early 50th birthday present to myself. Just disappointed I wasn't in Durban to collect personally. But I am probably going to be in town the end of May for an old school event, and I will be 100% sure to go and see her and thank her in person.

This what she sent me as it was getting loaded.

I wont lie, I would have flown to Durban the moment the deal was concluded. Im a sucker for midweek roadtrips
The temptation was there, trust me, but my timing was off and I wasn't prepared to wait. So I compromised. But no plates, no disc, she's going to get a good run on the N1 tomorrow morning! I have to rush from Woodmead back to Northcliff for a meeting at 11, and I'm collecting at 10:30 👀 🙈

Ok I got the car, it's pouring with rain in JHB, so now it's dirty, it's a stunning piece of engineering, I drove it home with the James May "fizz" going on, been a while since that's happened, so yeah, I am pretty stoked (ok a lot stoked!).
