Hi guys,

So im sure you guys figured was trying to sell my mini, however I couldn't get my price and after test driving a few cars including the Polo Gti :yuck: I just was not happy letting my mini go.

Honestly, there has not been another fwd car that I have fell so deeply in love :inlove: with and I think I have decided to keep it:rollsmile:

I know there have been concerns with the Minis in terms of reliability and truth be told I have had a few issues myself but since my last issue about 8months ago, I have had not a single problem with the car.

What I'd like to know from you fanatics is I have the 2011 MCS and from what I read most the issues have been resolved on theses models but I'd like to keep this car as my little toy/project and busy convincing the wife to get something for us to run around, does anyone know how reliable the 2011 models are and in terms of servicing out of MP? I hear Tunetech are good but are there any other servicing agents available?

I really wanna keep this car and the only reason I actually considered selling was due to my wife being pregnant and obviously us needing something bigger. I have considered the clubman but the spec on my R56 is just too insane to let go:inlove:

Any advice or help guys? If you guys suggest I rather let the vehicle go due to running costs and maintenance then I think I'd really consider but otherwise i def would wana keep my little monster!

I'm not some vehicle fundi so some real practical long term advice would be appreciated!!

Sell for something bigger. There is the new 1 series or F30s or best buy e90 sedans diesel or petrol. Huge choices you have in the bmw family.

Lol - that's actually quite funny.

I can convincingly put my hand on my heart and tell you a car like Miss Marple will probably be in the garage for less repairs at 250K KM in the same time a M135i hits 50K KM.

Just, quite funny though how some people associate newer, low mileage car as being more reliable. And there's someone that's always arguing you get peace of mind with MP, but try trading in a car with a million comments and see how far "peace of mind" gets you.

But to each his own, and I understand the cliche attached to higher mileage cars :thumbs:

If I were you, I'd keep the R56 and get something like a decent E46 to use as a family car.

I have to somewhat agree with MSM. I wouldn't buy new easily even if I can afford it.

I'd rather drive a tried and trusted car than the newer F range. Not that they're bad, they're great on paper, but still an unknown factor.

Many a diesel owner were diesel haters (myself included) until they owned one.

I vote consider a E90 330d. Even if you just test drive Miss marple, you'll be blown away. And it's reliable.

Your spec/extras you will not find easily in another hatch hey.
Rather keep it and extend the mp as long as you can if its cheap.
Then use someone like tunetech for afterwards,.

Unfortunately letting it go now will be quite a loss.

Congrats on the baby, rather wait for the little one to come along and then plan from there. You can still fit a baby seat in the back and a pram :rollsmile:

The countryman is a good option and trust my they are just as fun, just bigger and I have two girls that fit in the back. Infact, I have a R56 loaner now and all 4 off us fit in it. :rollsmile:

As above, they are epic fun and take the corners like a boss - I really enjoyed the Cooper S Countryman.

Dont bother with All4, its a drag but make sure you thrash the tester, its a really competent car. :joy:

I think il keep it and wait till the baby comes and see how we manage, I'm not too concerned about the back seat it's more the boot that is my concern over the long distance trips.

The countryman has a sliding rear bench so while the little one still needs a pram you slide the rear bench forward and literally double the already massive boot - If you look at the Countrman makes sure it does not have the split compartment.

It takes up a lot of space whereas the standard boot is huge.

Ja thats true, the kiddies go in the back easily, the boot is a bit of an issue but thhen you can fold down the one rear seat it you need to fit a pram/overnight bag or whatever. Problem is that with two kiddies there is no space for a pram. And it has Isofix in the back and take it from me, It is worth getting an ISO fix seat, they are easy to put in and pull out without waking the little one up.

O and congrats BTW. Your life will never be the same again.

Yip, i can second that. We can fit a pram, stroller and nappy bags in the back with space for shopping without even moving the seats forward.

And If the countryman doesn't work for you, the clubman does have good room aswell. I have tried them all.:thumbs:

I wish I could take all my extras out and transfer them into clubman/countryman I will gladly change vehicles then lol

What about reliability, are minis meant to be kept around for a long time? I need to make a decision to keep the next car or this one for a while and that is what's troubling it's still under MP now but once that's done, is it advisable to keep them around?

Well , you said yourself that I haven't given you problems lately, Then it seems that yours is good now.

To keep costs down on you can always have it serviced at a BMW spesialist. Didi that with my previous Cooper S, ran without trouble for years and 145 000 odd KM. You can always increase the number off services/decrease service intervals/oil changes.

They should be good for a bit.

Most Countrmans will still be under plan for two years if you buy now, and extensions are no more expensive than the hatch or clubman. :thumbs:
