Hi Guys and Gals,

I posted a while back info on what to look out for when buying an E46. I have now purchased one and I am over the moon.

I will post pictures up once I have given her a nice clean .

Theres a few niggly bits but other then that she runs lllaaarrrvvveelllyy. Niggly bits are things like the 6 Disc CD changer in the back doesn't read any discs, just says NO DISCS. Washer jets are spraying, and nearside rear brake something is rubbing, only seems to do it after the handbrake has been on so presume its the shoes. Another thing I noticed tonight was when I put the handbrake on it lops to one side when i let of the brake.

Like I say, niggly bits. She drives perfect, I wonder why I didn't get one sooner.

Oh its a 320CI 02' Coupe.

Cheers for reading.

Congrats man!

With regards to the handbrake, the shoes are definately shot and need replacing. The jets could just mean a faulty Window Washer Pump. Available for under R500 and can be DIYed.

The infamous disc problem is a common fault on the e46s. You can either have the gears refurbed, replace with new/second hand unit or just integrate a iPod/Aux feature and get rid of the disc changer.

Many happy miles

We never got the ci in 320i format here in SA, he must be an international fanatic.

Welcome and congrats on the new ride, should be the 2.2lt model iirc. They really good on fuel if you drive it nicely.

Welcome to the E46 club.

Also have a problem with the NO DISC error, only happens once in a while though and only when I'm trying to play newer CDs. So I'm jamming to pre 2000 tunes half the time :fencelook:

For the No Disc issue i used to open the radio up and clean, the laser pick up with a cotton wool. Its gets a lot of dust after some time and so fails to read the disk. The laser pick up is a small little glass eye that read the dick.

On the E46 it's much more cost effective to get an iPod or Aux kit as opposed to replacing the CD Changer. Congrats on a great purchase, you you have to post some pics or else it didn't happen :)
