Smoking on Idle/Deceleration

Hi Guys

So after changing turbos/PCV valve/Valve cover gasket my car is still smoking on deceleration/braking.

Seems to be getting worse. Looks like there could possibly be oil in my exhaust pipe. Could this be valve stem seals as this is my next repair I have planned.

Thanks

Suggest doing a compression/leak down test before popping the head off for stem seals.
Stem seal are uncommon on these engines. Most probably something else.

Hey man

I have done a compression test and that passed.

Valve stems will be done without popping the head off.

So far I understand it Valve stem seals are common on the 6 cylinder engines. I have 170 000km on the clock.

Hi Guys

So Seems like christmas came early.:smilebounce:

For the last 2 days my car has not smoked once.

How is this possible??????

Perhaps PCV system was clogged?

Maybe a stuck oil ring??

All i can say is im very happy at the moment.

Merry Christmas guys

Guess What - Smoking started again.

Now comes the catch

I took it to get checked. The guys said i need to remove the JB4 for them to diagnose the car. Car stopped smoking again. So stopped when JB4 got re-fitted - Week later smoking

Stopped smoking again when JB4 got removed.

How the hell is this possible???

This smoking is making you scratch your head the while time. Did they check the car out or didn't you take it after it stopped?

The car has been checked by BMW and 4 other places.

No one has a straight answer.

Both exhausts smoking? If only 1 side, it’s going to be the turbo seal I’d guess

Hey there bud.
I feel your pain.

Just a thought. Is the oil coming up short?
Reason why I ask is that maybe its not oil causing the smoke. Maybe over fueling?
If no oil short, then no oil causing the smoke.

Maybe i missed this but what color is the smoke??

bluish? White or Black..
how regularly you checked your oil?
you having to top up often?

Also, Have you removed your plugs???
If you remove them, that will give you an idea whats going on..
smell them ..

I see you done a compression test but have you down the Leak down test too??
