SMG Advanced motor drive

I am looking at the SMG Advanced Motor Drive 2 warranty for a 2015 F30 328i that will be going out of motorplan at the end of July this year.

The car belonged to my late father who very unexpectedly passed away in April. My brother is now using the car, but he will be doing significantly more mileage than my dad used to.

The car is now on 90k km. The timing chain and guides have not been done. The engine is quiet and strong, there are no comments.

We bought the car on about 84k km last year March.

SMG quoted me 17k for the above mentioned plan, underwritten by Innovation Group.

Anyone here with experience of this product. Is it worth the money?

I have added a pdf attachment.

when is your current motorplan expiring? if your brother is going to do less then 10000km this year, it might be worth more to extend the original motorplan for time, then to use an aftermarket warranty with all their terms and conditions and percentage payouts etc etc...

Get a quote to extend just for an additional year. Get another quote with mileage (usually alot more expensive)

End of next month. From what I gather I should have already enquired regarding original motorplan extension.

See below:
" The vehicle has the balance of the original 5 year / 100 000kms Motorplan that will expire on 30 July 2020. You can request an extension of the plan when the vehicle reaches 80 000km or 6 months prior to the expiry of the current plan. The Motorplan extension must be taken while the vehicle is still under the current manufacturer plan and can be extended twice with a year each time."

So from the looks of it an aftermarket extension is my option, or alternatively ride it out and deal with something when it happens (which in the case of the N20 can/might/ will be a pain )

Get a monthly warranty if you prefer to not pay the upfront premium, I had one for R350 per month with M-Sure (SA Warranties). Innovation group is the other warranty company that has a good record with payouts.

With the N20, I would suggest you have some form of cover, especially since the benefit limits would be relatively high given the age of the vehicle.. Do a search on the forum, there is a host of content related to this very topic.

Try another dealer to extend the current plan

Long as you're motorplan is still active which it currently is,  any dealership should be able to assist you, some dealers will even give you a few days grace to extend. As i say, it wouldnt hurt to get a quote to extend for time .

You can avoid the dealer confusion and upgrade the plan on your BMW owners circle online.

You can definitely still extend your BMW motorplan.

There are tons of fallacies around this from owners and from dealers. You can extend time/mileage/both online and they will give you multiple options to choose from vs. a dealer usually giving you a number without many options or details.
