Slow start problem

is your tappet cover showing signs of leaking oil? My car had this problem and this caused oil to drench the spark plugs which caused all sorts of funky problems including funky starts in the morning, I replaced the gasket and replaced all 6 spark plugs and the car is hundreds.

I have noticed over the past few days that my car is swinging over a few times before starting, this is out of the ordinary, it used to start first swing every time.

My fuel consumption is fine, power delivery is normal, its just the startup that is worrying me. I remember my 320d doing this before the injectors failed, but along with that was increased fuel consumption and a noticeable reduction in power.

I havent read codes yet, I was wondering if any of you children had any bright ideas.

Most likely your battery. Weather is colder now and your battery is probably the original. Over time the battery looses some of its cranking power due to the chemical reactions in it and the colder the engine the tighter it is so it needs more battery power to swing it

Thanks firaz, is the problem sorted?

My baby has now developed a bit of a hiccup when cold starting in the morning, the revs suddenly drop and she cuts out, happened twice this morning :(

Put R200 in at Total just before the problem started happening, had problems with Total fuel before, and vowed never to use it again, but unfortunately was in a big hurry to get to a client and had to stop at a Total :(

Is it a sluggish start or does it fire up straight away after the delay?

Edit: Whoops just noticed you solved the problem
