Signal Interference - Randburg

Hi Guys

Would like to know if anyone experienced the same issue in and around the Randburg area, specifically around Randburg square and multichoice.

There are 5 of us at work that all have F30's, and now and then when we try to start our cars, it complains that it cannot find the key and will not start. We have to hold they key against the steering column to override. Car starts fine anywhere else but here. This happened to me several times at my office and at randburg square.

At first I was under the impression that someone was remote jamming me, but this cannot be the case as 4 other F30's have the same problem here.

Anyone else experienced this issue specifically in Randburg.

I contacted Clear Water BMW and explained the issue to them. Below is their response.

"On the key they are apparently busy trying to change the frequency off the keys BMW is busy with this so at the moment the interference is from outside aerials and satellites not the car so there is nothing they can do"

Frustrates me, most of the time if I drive out for lunch or leave the office in the evening, I battle to start the car.

My previous F30 did that a few times.. Not anywhere specific though.. My new one has yet to do that..

Hmm maybe something is whack in the area like you say.. some external frequency... Hmm.. Multichoice is closeby

I have the same issue with the wife's X3, only at the All Saints Centre in Olivedale, and the Woolies centre(Pizza Hut) across Rock Cottage in Honeydew.

It's definitely not a jammer, but a booster or device operating on the same frequency. It's a real pain in the butt as I struggle to start the car sometimes, now I just wait in the car

We work at the same place, and I can confirm I have had the same problem but with an F10. I was concerned and so had BMW replace the battery in my key, thinking the battery was going flat, as i have had to start the car many times by holding the key up to the steering column.

Don't the fob work on a frequency like a wifi router will work:tiptoe:

If so then maybe try this, I had problems with my router loosing wifi signals at certain spots around the flat so I downloaded the app wifi analyser from farproc from the android play store to troubleshoot the problem and realized that there were other radio signals that interfered with it. I moved the router around and found a sweet spot and now it works perfect. Maybe it is the exact spot where you park the car that the signals are the strongest. Maybe moving a little will help

Just a suggestion, don't kill me for this :hammerhead: but maybe try and see if there is strong signals where you park and maybe walk around with the app on and see where the signal is less and see if that helps.

BMW is going to take their time seeing that you already bought the cars :tiptoe:
