Should I & would you?

I have just had a look at a very nice 2000 e46 328i sportpack. Car is metallic black, black leather, alluminium trimming. 172 000km with fsh.

Apart from clearcoat peeling on the bonnet and the bootspoiler, the car is really neat.

It has HK audio, MFS etc etc.

Now, if I trade the e36 318 and the e34 540, I can drive out in the e46 and it won't cost me a more than about 8k.

Now my question:

After everything I have been through with the e36, should i keep my car with its new engine, keep my 540 with her attitude or take the gamble with the 328i.

As always, its a gamble. The 328 engine can last one year, or it could last another 5. I know the e36 engine is strong, I serviced her the other day, and the prognosis is good.

Not for the 328 ... perhaps if it was a 330i I would consider it.

Rather the devils you know :)

eish, thats a difficult one. at least if you have the 318 and the 540 when one of them IS broken, you can use the other :)

+1

I would for a 330i Sport/Individual, but not for a 328i

You know how to complicate your life Jandre.... :pimp:

This is a damm tough one, Maybe a full inspection on the 328 may be worth it. But I am talking the whole hog, compression tests the works. If she gets a clean bill of health, then do it.

The ONLY reason I am advising this is that the E46 comes with a much better safety cell then the E36 and E46, and when your wife has Caitlan in the car... its kinda a no brainer.

E34 540's can be had for quite cheap, as you have discovered :)

It's the safety aspect that I like. The e46 is much safer than the e36.

On the other end, the e36 (with all the shite that she has given me), is the devil I know. The nasty surprises have been sorted.

Agh, I'll sleep on it.

Thanks lads.

For what they will most likely give you for the 540, i would say, keep the 540 and trade the "POFS" :mmm: in on the e46.
It wouldnt make such a big difference on the cash adjustment

NOPE - the peeling clear coat scared me first thing.

This will of course be repaired by the dealer.

(My 2006 Pajero and my dads 2006 E90 are both peeling.)
Don't know what's up with that.

Waterbased paint + parking in the sun.

That looks pretty good, just be sure to have it properly checked out. The 328 is an awesome car but if you can have a 330i rather go for that, the engines are just miles apart. If I now drive our 328i is feels so lumbering compared to my 330i.

Hehe, no just joking Sankekur. Dont know how they do it but the 330 even sounds much different than the 328i. If u still need persuasion just give me a call and we'll do a few test drives.
