Should I buy this ???? (330i)

Hi there all

Just looking for some opinions on this car; It's a 2006, 330i Sportpack with 90 000kms on clock - R165 000. MP until 100 000kms. I have the BMW history, all looks okay there nothing seriously worrying. One comment a "B1" cosmetic repair, cost R6800.

Condition would be best described at average as I haven't actually seen the car, it's in Jhb and I'm in Dbn. My mate saw the car for and took the pics for me.

Has a few scratches and one golf ball typr dent that'll need fixing and a very intense valet I understand.

Just trying to get opinions before flying up etc - thoughts and ides anyone ?

R6800 does not buy you much at the dealer so i would not worry about that, but you could use it to bring the price down a bit...

Yip moranor summed it up perfectly! R6800 couldn't have been anything too serious. Does anybody know what the b1 means tho?

Motorplan status current active and will expire on the 24/08/2012 or alternative 100000km whichever comes first.

Looks very nice! Sportspack is nice of course! Fantastic colour! Still fairly low mileage and price seems good! Can't see that golf ball type dent in the pics, where is it?

One little bit of advice, when I bought my car it had a few nasty scratches that I had asked the dealership to fix, they said they'll send it away and try and polish out some of the scratches. This was the worst thing I let them do! Got the car with terrible swirl marks and holograms that cost me time and elbow grease to correct. Basically, the only person that touches my car is me! Even now, it's just come back from being serviced (that's a story for a whole other day) and even the interior is dirtier and more grubby looking than it was before I took it in, and they valeted the car even though I told them not to! :nonono:

But, best is to try and take a proper look at it and take it for a drive! Otherwise looks like an awesome car. Doesn't look like it has Xenons and Rain Sensor - not a big deal and mine doesn't have these either. So first upgrade, change the standard halogen bulbs to at least Osram Nightbreakers for both high and low beams.

Just noticed on the interior pic, the soft touch coating on the sports steering wheel has come off - common problem but easily fixed!

Hi Philip

See the attached, you can see it here ? Not pretty !!

How do you fix the steering wheel ?

Otherwise thanks for the info and the advice.

Was thinking more along the lines of professional detailer as oppsed to valet - Leonard etc.

I'll buy it , still under motorplan you say , where are you situated in South Africa ? If pretoria , I know a guy in BMW that will sort your car out completely.

@ Karthik - I'm in Dbn actually, but the car in Jhb Kaylami Estate.

Yes underplan til August

What do mean sort it out - does he work at a dealership ?

REC NOTIFICATION- ABS ARC VEH INVOLVED IN DAMAGE CATEGORY B1

Hi there dude,
I can figure out a few things here.
REC NOTIFICATION-ABS (ABS is the dealer name and ARC stands for Accident Repair Centre) this is a BMW approved repair shop

No idea what B1 stands for

Hope this helps

Maybe phone the previous owner and find out if you want piece of mind

Thanks Jenich

The guy selling is the second owner he bought it in 2008 from Fordicks Sandton. Car was originally sold from Ukumba Auto, that I believe has now closed ?

The damage was before he bought it, but he informed of it.

In response to your question as stated in the title, I dont know. Should you? Do you feel lucky, punk?

Hehe, ok ok, real nice car man. Get an estimate on the total cost of ALL possible repairs and take it from there.

Very good price for such an awesome car. Spend an additional R10 - 15k on the body and interior and it will still be worth it.

If you don't plan to extend the Motorplan, make sure the remainder of it is transfered to your name (Should be around R1800). Then make sure you book it for some 'bogus' clutch issue just before MP expires, and let them replace the clutch and service the car and go through it with a fine toothed comb...

These 330i's are epic, I have the biggest respect for those engines after doing a full day of advanced driving with them, spending the whole day at the redline without a single complaint.

Sounds like a good buy, the main thing is that it still has motorplan. The cosmetic's can easily be sorted.

I am sure that's a relatively simple paintless dent removal. Pic is a bit out of focus, but that's a pretty flat part of the panel. Leonard to the front desk, Leonard to the front desk...

Yep, to a proper detailer yes! Don't let the dealer put one of their out of control machine polishing guys near the car!

There were a few threads here relating to plasti-dip and so for the sports steering wheel...
