Should a G7 GTi do this to me

So this morning on my way to work on the N1 I am doing about 110km/hr behind two cars. G7 pulls up behind me and sits on my bumper.

The two cars move out of the way and I floor car (***don't want to mention speed on public forum***). G7 sticks to my bumper and looks like it wants to go past. We slow for some traffic and this time when it clears I put box in sports mode and floor. Same thing. G7 sticks to my bumper. I am going flat out and he looks like he still has reserves. I initially thought it was an R

Should this be possible or is there something wrong with my car? What I have noticed is that if I take a gap then there is a couple of seconds where there is no power and then all of a sudden the car surges forward.

Another issue I have picked up is that occasionally when I start the car in the morning the brake pedal is rock hard.

The big question though is, should a G7 stick to me from pedal to the floor acceleration from 110km/hr onwards?

you supposed to have the torque advantage on high gears/speed.

is your car stock?
was the GTI stock?

My car is stock. Wanted to stop the GTI to ask if his card is modded, but couldn't catch him :crazylaugh: His number plate is SOLARES WP or something like that. Sure I will see him on the road to work in the future.

The issue is not "losing". Maybe I am just being paranoid that something is not lekker with the car. Should maybe put it on a dyno to see what it is pushing out,

Something else to consider is that he was in your slip stream, that counts alot

The new Vags that are using the mbq platform are nothing short of amazing. (bar the stupid exposed ecu) The golf 7 gti makes more power at the reef on the wheels than it's official flywheel power rating at the coast. VW where very modest with the power ratings. It's the same story with the 7R. I have seen a brand new 7R being fitted with software, DP and intake beat a stock GTR on the 400m. A KO4 G6 will demolish a 400whp N54 on launch and top end.
Don't be stressed about a G7 on your bumper. Those cars are strong.

The Golf probably had a cone filter.

We all know there is nothing quicker on planet earth than a Golf with a cone filter.

Dont stress over it, the new Dubs are really amazing, what VW has been able to create is just wow, they respond very well to mods.

Stock for Stock - improbable.

The G7s are quite brisk though, and my buddies G7 GTi with chipbox only made 198wKW, which is similar to x35i stock power with (I'm assuming) less weight than an E90.

We have the same friend....lol

That car has a few mods, very very strong car & will give MOST cars a lekker hiding.

Had a run with him with my old more door & frm pullaway he pulled me a train length (DSG) & I only pulled it back later on up the gears...very much later.

I learned not to be a cocky prick towards those dubs no matter how many cylinders or badges I have on my car, those 4 cylinder motors are well impressive
