All fuel is more or less the same. The spec at the pump station is 95 octane MINIMUM, higher octane number will generally cause fuel to burn faster thus giving more performance and less mileage. Also, all oil majors buy and sell to eachother especially in outlying areas hence, you think you filling fuel A but its actually another company supplying. You cant actually say which fuel will give u more or less mileage.

Correct me if I'm wrong but higher octane fuel burns SLOWER and more controlled and not faster as stated.

Yes, High octane gasoline burns slower than low octane gasoline. The slow burn prevents engine knock when cylinder pressures are high. You are suppose to get more km`s on a tank of 95 then on a tank of 93 Unleaded.

It also depends on the garage. I fill at constantia shell 95 hehe I can't believe my eyes I have 200 some odd kms and range shows 730km remaining so realistically I should get 800kms on the tank easily

Oh God, its like which one is sweeter. I've filled with everything available (bar diesel) and all I can say is that with Engen I get best mileage (560km) and with Shell I get a smoother engine, but less mileage. Can't tell if there is a performance increase or not. BP and Sasol were unnoticeable to me.

Didn't Car Mag do a fuel test a while back? I could be wrong...

I see we had quite a bit of discussions regarding fuel in recent times.

On the other thread shell got a big knock... I stick to Engen

I had experience with Shell, initially it was good! but then the 2nd tank gave me endless pings and hectic stuttering/jerks :thumbdo:
My friends all experienced the same or similar issues with shell.

It seem all/most the guys here that gives thumbs up to Shell are in the GP area? yes?!

I'm in Cape Town and the best fuel I've used is Shell and Sasol.

I use Shell, when I can get it. They're hardly ever on my route when I need to fill up.
My perception is that my car performs better with Shell - more responsive.
