Maybe that's why they call it the G String:biglol:

This thread is worrying me, I have a 2003 330i with only 101 000kms on the clock - should I start saving ?????

I got it on 92 000kms a year back and changed oil immediatley.

Last weekend I changed oil again (with LM this time) at 101 000kms.

What else should I be doing to prevent engine failure ?

Dude don't panic. Just make a note of servicing it regularly - in other words, no longer than a year or 10 000km between oil changes. If you are particularly worried, do 5000km oil change intervals for a while.

Have a look at the cooling system too. (Google is your friend).

Otherwise just keep a watchful eye on the car - monitor fluid levels regularly, don't hammer the car when cold etc etc.

Thanks Adis

I did the "mother of all cooling system overhauls" a few months back including all rubber hoses there 8 in total, T/stat, Water Pump, Exp Tank, new complete radiator, temp sensor, etc etc. Cost like 10k when all said and done.

I also did the whole oil seprator and associated hoses etc - pig of a job, but was necessary as the bottom pipe was close to failure.

Did the the power sterring resevoir replacement with new power steering fluid etc. Had a bit of a rattle that I couldn't determine if it was the power steering pump or the alternator, turned out to be the latter so I replaced it.

Most recently replaced all 4 discks and all pads and flushed brake fluid. The disks are damn heavy on these cars

You got nothing to worry about dude. You look to have things under control:thumbs:

Thanks let's hope that it leads to the reliability I want.

The cooling overhaul has an intersting setup, with two hard plastic pipes that do need to replaced, but they are under the intake mani. I had the pipes but returned them to BMW as I was not about to remove the mani. Maybe I'll do it in December whilst on leave.

Actually thought a trip to Jhb to see Carbon Doctor would be an idea, and as he's need to take the mani off his job, I'd just replace them then.

Busy with the next phase of preventative maintenence and that's complete suspension refresh.
