looking at the pics the wheels have a very aggressive offset and I dont think you can lower it without doing heavy arch work...

can you post a pick of how much the wheels stick out?

its kinda difficult to see on the pics so maybe i should measure.

but with the 245's and the 3mm theorerically they should be flush.

id like them to be slightly under arch because i dont any rubbing. but we shall see once the lathe is done, cos im going to first lathe then see how they fit because bridgestone make 255's in the profile i want.

moranor.....what ypu think?

Instead of modifying a brand new car to fit the wheels, rather modify the wheels to fit the car or get ones with the right offsets to begin with...

@moranor.....i like the l9ok of a flare of done properly but im on the side of Gizmo here.

henve lathing a few millimeters off the rim and then fitting the 245's but i kinda like the 255/35/19s......would there be any major differences or deterements by using these instead of the 245/30/19.....cos im kinda liking that extra little air between rim and road these continies have horrible grip tho....my esp is like my petrol light......ALWAYS ON

I only say roll the arches because I dont think it will be easy to correct the offset on the wheels from the pics it looks like you need to go in 7-10mm on this tire the problem will be worse on the new tire size you want to fit this is alot to cut off the inside of the wheel

best would be if you could return the wheels an buy some with the correct offset talk to the place you bought the wheels from hopefully they can accommodate this

I have not looked at the F series offsets but you probably find these would fit great on a 3

Think I saw you on hospital bend yesterday?
I think the horrible grip your talking about is partly do to the runflats? I changed to normal "go flats" and it made a massive improvement in grip and ride quality. Just with BMW if they will let you put normal tyres and I would recommend going this route when your tyres are done. O yes and they are generally cheaper.
Also I would check BMW is OK with your rims etc. Going to be a pain in the.... changing rim everytime you take the car in. BMW dealers can be very difficult on such stupid issues.

O yeah rims looks grand! Hope it all works out.

@moranor.....i was actually chatting to the owner of the tyre place and if u wanna talk about helpfull....id send ANYONE TO HIM....he offered to change the wheels if we fit 245s and im not happy as he did say they look nice and aggressive but he too wasnt happy with the offset and rubbing, mentioned a few dangers even asked me to come the next day to check for and shock wear or damage. so we agreed that if im not happy he will swap for the same value BUT thats before lathing.

also what ive been told by quite a few people is that my rears are very similar to the 135 so i was gna struggle with wheels......but the fronts seem identical to the f30s. so i think i was just hasty in my choice and didnt ask the right questions.

either way the car is specd for 245 rears so i was going bridgestone but im selling a few kids in the area to pay for them.

but thanks for all the help so far bud.

@woodiez......could have been and most probably was me bud.

i asked a m3 oke to pull over cos i "loved the junk ON his trunk". turns out he had a custom bootlid wit fin added....must say its a stunning machine....so much so that my gf turned the radio off to listen as the M pulled off.

phenomenal looking M3 i must add....incase nobody noticed that im in love with this car.

ok back to tyres, on my 18s with the bridgestone RFTs i had great grip and could launch full tilt with esp off and id have a little scrabble but then they would bite...so i cant compare really between anything else besides conties and the standard tyres.

i 100% agree about price.....only cos i dont have a spare and for the time being its my everyday car...so i was a little 2 minded about " go flats " also i have tyre insurance...I HAVE READ THE POLICY DOCUMENT( obviouslh I being the operative uhm well letter or is jt still a word ).....so what I understand by it is there are no exclusions on size as long as they are within the cost parameters.

I am however going back to BMW tuesday to chat to my salesperson cos ill admit shes gotten me many a thing in writing that i didnt expect and also so that i can i know what BMW READ IN MY POLICY AGREEMENT.

this is why my wheels havent gone on sale yet.....brand new with less that 1000km in them. i could most likely get a few pennies back.

if bmw gives me grief about the 19s thwn im not going to bothe with runflats and just use "go flats" i was considering the goodyear eagle f1.....anyone have some experience with these or does anyone have some advise on what other "good" go flats there......btw...im loving this go flats amd runflats business!!!!!

but sheesh am i happy i joined this forum...thanks guys

Be careful when machining the rims to adjust the offset, you don't want to impact the structural integrity of them.

I doubt rolling your fenders will even help. They will need more work than that by the looks of things.

The Goodyear's are great tyres. Would recommend them to anyone. A huge step up from rfts

you can use this site to check the oem offset:

bmwfans

you can normally go around 15mm more aggressive of offset depending on tire size

if you can swap out the wheels for the correct offset I would do this as it is the best option :)

@200ts .... im not really keen on machining much if anything off but my 245's will be there tommorow so we will see how they fit and go from there.

@dieselfan ... id like to flare the arches anyway as i kinda like the "rocketbunny" look just less aggresive.

thanks for the tyre advise, cos im leaning towards keeping my OEM 18s as they have like 3000kms on them. It all depends on what bmw says about go flats vs runflats.

@moranor.... first choice world be swap for the correct off set if they can get.

so if anyone knows of a set of M4 rims then pls lemme know lol

off topic........
