Service History Report

Can anyone explain to me what the odometer reading means at the top of the screen of the bmw service history report?

Most often I find only service history and repairs done under motorplan on this report, but an odometer reading at the top of the screen (See attached pic) which differs from the last service history info further down on the report.

My gut feel is that the report only includes work done under motorplan, but the top reading is the last recorded mileage at bmw.

Is this correct or am I missing something?

Does this recording take place even after the motorplan has expired? So every time the car goes in , it will be recorded on BMWs system with the mileage?

Mileage is recorded off the key when the car goes into the dealership, doesn't matter if still under motorplan or not. You will notice the key reader units on the desks at BMW dealers.

The surprising thing is that this particular bmw was not serviced by bmw after motor plan. Where else could bmw have picked up that info from? Perhaps taken in to quote on something? Or maybe a part was ordered?

Even when phoning for parts for a particular service, the parts salesman will sometimes ask what the odometer reading is to determine exactly which service you are referring to so he can recommend the correct parts, and this will be recorded on the VIN.

What could also have happened it that a part was required and the client gave the parts sales man the key to get the vehicle vin and it was read in the key reader by the parts department. Our parts department have a key reader for when vin specific parts are required by a client.

Cheers
